Greylisting. Really helps protect against spam but introduces (in my case) a minimum four minute delay on incoming mail when it's the first time someone has sent me one. On subsequent emails, there's no delay.

how so? the voucher is issued in order so the 1st person to get one could have only just used it and it would still be valid?

I think he means he gets notified when there is a new thread, being a moderator, and due to the delay, he saw it late, etc

But it only delays the first email from the source, so this wouldnt be delayed if that was the case
