for £3 what sort of difference will i see if i'm correct is it the more ram the better or is there something i'm missing

The £3 get you 512mb more memory which is never a bad thing. It'll be slightly faster at higher resolutions with AA etc. There's not much point going with the 512mb really.

As Helios said, why not pay the 3 quid and have a peace of mind that it will perform better.

Yeah as above, the extra memory helps with higher resolutions, back when they first came out and their was quite a large price difference I'd of said stick with the half gig if playing below 1920x1200 and get the gig for that and above, but now for the sake of 3 quid I'd say get the full gig even if only playing 640x480 :D

sorted, now go get that 1gb card!

...... Have had both of these cards in small PSU machines - 1Gb card has the edge; for £3 don't even think about it - just get the 1Gb card. Used to be a much bigger difference in cost.

I think he's after this as an interim til get a new 5870/5970 (from previous posts)

correct u are mr thrifles i'll get as mid range for a while then see how the prices look in about 3 -6 months (and give them time to bring up new dx 11 cards and iron out the bugs. i never buy into new products straight away anyway.
