Exspensive PayPal Charges

How bad is this? I bought somthing for £215, paypal charged me £7.51. Then I had to send the £7.51 to the other bloke through paypal GIFT and charged me £0.46. I thought gift was ment to be free? A bit exspensive all together.
 
Oh. Well I must off jumped the gun. I bought somthing from the MM and I was the buyer. It was £215, so I paid that and then got an email saying "have recieved payment, but have been issued £7.51 fee's, will talk to you later about it.". I assumed that I had to pay it, so without speaking to him about it, I paid it through gift so it came to £222.51, but then had to pay 46p to send it as a gift which made it £222.97. I don't know if i pay the charges as It was my first time buying from the members market. So I am guessing it was my fault, but in future, I don't pay for the fee's when I am the buyer? Thanks.
 
Gift is free if it's coming straight from your PayPal balance or your bank account. If you pay by using a credit card, you or the seller will have to pay a fee.
 
Iam the guy you bought it from. Basically I said in the for sale post either pay via paypal gift or if you want pay for "goods" and you pick up the fees. Ben decided to do the "goods" but didnt pick up the fees so I requested the £7 odd to be sent as I got charged. When paying on paypal you can select that you will pay fees so the seller does not get charged. This should really be kept inside of members market. Mod delete my post if needed.

Not really. It was clearly shown on the for sale post, either pay via gift or if you select "goods" you pick up the fees. This is not an unusual practice.. Again this should be kept inside of members market i think.

Not at all.

Read the thread in MM - it clearly states the payment options.

I'd imagine the seller would have reminded the buyer again after email contact was made (although obvious from the thread).

Again not really, a lot of people say either gift or you pick up fees. I also had BT as a payment option as well.

Let me put it this way, pay via BT and its £215 or paypal is £222. The buyer makes the decision to make the purchase or not, or take a gamble and do gift.

I really don't see the problem when its clearly presented to the buyer before hand and the buyer makes the decision.

Oh and enjoy your SSD drive when it turns up tomorrow Ben.
 
Sorry for breaking any rules, and grey, I ain't saying your a scammer at all means. I was just not impressed by the rates paypal charge. No disrespect to you, I ain't calling you anything, I think the prices are just terrible that paypal charge.
