Bodybuilders advice please

Indeed. I've restructured my training so many times, although I am able of big lifts and big weights I'm concentrating on lighter weights and improved ROM and form to really get the muscle working fully. It's actually been challenging. Although I can squat 180 for example, I've been doing 120kg squats (to below parallel of course! ;)) but for 10-12 reps with nice slow controlled movements - my god it's hard! Really challenging. Similar to deadlifts, 220 I can do and have done many times, but my last session was only 160 again for 8-10 reps which is a huge draw on you.

Don't think about the numbers, think about how you're lifting the weight and how th weight feels. Try and use visualisation of your muscles working and moving for the particular exercise - it helps a lot!

Keep it up! Don't give up, and remember, enjoy yourself! :)

I think if everybody spent 10 weeks doing GVT/AGVT they'd lift a lot differently and also have a changed mind set and approach to training.

Speaking of which, I really want to do another AGVT session next year. It'll have been 6 months, so long enough to shock the old body. I'm going to have to buy my own bodyweight in food for those 55 days of torture! Starting in March as I'm going skiing mid Feb so I can't start in Jan as it won't give me enough time to do it properly. Target will be 16.5st @ 18% max - but by the time I start I should be down to 14-15% if all goes well. Can't wait! :D

Exactly this. Forget the numbers, forget everyone else around you and just feel it.

I'm willing to give GVT another go too. Though I need a partner to do it with as otherwise I'll have to train around when an instructor is free to spot me! Though my old training partner has started a job at the Uni so can train with him again from January. So might start it sometime around the end of February. Gives my new routine a chance and then should give me around 10 weeks before I head home for easter.

Same sort of time as me then. :)

There's a new chap at our gym who's a PCIP level 3 and keen to do another bout of AGVT - so I'll see if I can rope him into doing it!
