FreeviewHD (DVB-T2) starting 2nd December

Sorry must have not made my point correctly
DVB-T can be used to package HD signals BUT instead of doing this
They decided to create a new format , for what technical reason ?
None that I could see
monetary reasons , I can see a few

I don't know the ins and outs but there will certainly be technical reasons. As the rest of Europe is upgrading to this format in the future.

I have Freesat and Freeview built into my Panny TX-L37G15. I have both hooked up and use FS for HD and FV for Dave. Will there be any advantages over this setup with FV HD?

It is much more efficient, and makes total sense with the bandwidth demands of HD broadcasts. I dont see how people can say that there are no technical advantages

OK a little bit of reading later, looks like 60% more bandwidth per signal strength = more HD channels possible for T2.

Its a pain in the short term because if it was DVB-T wrapped I could get it today I expect through my computer just like the crystal palace HD trials from years ago.

TBH, if you are that interested in receiving early "test" HD broadcasts, then why didnt you do it years ago via satellite :p This is hardly exciting nor interesting, and certainly not worth buying special equipment for at the moment, if you have waited this long for broadcast HD, then why not leave it until its mainstream over DVBT2.

And it will probably only be viable if your BB connection can get faster than 8Mb. The box can handle it, but there's not much chance of you getting the transmission being fast enough to give you a great picture.

??

The BT vision box does not stream TV via the net; it's a freeview box.

Oooh, G15... very nice .

The only thing you might find is like how currently FreeSat is missing a few of the FreeView channels (Five US, Fiver, Dave, Virgin 1, UKTV History, Sky Three, Viva, The Hits and Sky Sports News, etc), they might eventually be some channels on FreeView HD that don't go to FreeSat HD... and probably vice versa. It's licensing or something isn't it?

Hence why I want to know:
Do we know any timescale for availability of DVB-T2 receivers?
4. Integrated DVB-T2 & Integrated Freesat (e.g. Panasonic G10 but with DVB-T2 instead of DVB-T) <--------- That's what I'm really waiting for!

It does both. On demand is streamed along with some sports/ movie/ kids channels that aren't on freeview. It's the same as the tiscali TV box really.

So far as I can understand it, only Londoners who receive the Crystal Palace signal will get Freeview HD in time for the World Cup, everyone else in the Greater London area will have to wait for 2012 which seems a wee bit odd for the largest conurbation in the country (BBC)

You do realise the Crystal Palace tower is the most powerful in the country and serves around 11 million people? The "groups" are the names of the antennas and their support repeater towers, not the area of people who will get the new HD Freeview.

oh great so my HD Ready IS NOT READY!!!

It is ready to display HD content.

It will not tune FreeView HD as it does not support the DVB-T2 standard. If you were sold it as "supports DVB-T2" and you now find it doesn't, get a refund.... otherwise shocker as product doesn't support standard released after product purchased.

What did people think HD Ready meant. Until recently, no HD Ready TV had a Freesat HD tuner either.

is there a site where we can check to see which Freeview boxes and TV (Tuners) do have 'DVB-T2' ?

...As when I bought my Sony W3000 - I'm sure 'What HiFi' Magazine Stated that it had a Freeview HD Tuner???
