Nissan GTR

I'm not sure how you can call Porsche owners douches based on experience's from a petrol station. The conversation probably goes something like:

"Hi, what pump number?"
"Uh...2"
"Ok, that's £50 please"
*gives credit card*
"Please enter your pin"
"Ok"
"Please remove you card from the machine"
"Thanks"
"Thanks"

Wow, you must really be able to tell what your customers are like, what with the 30 second "conversation" you have with them.

Funnily enough I do actually talk to the customers about their vehicles if they have one of note, and most, not all, of the people with Porsches either a) cant be bothered to even make any effort to talk about their cars, probably because they havent got a clue what model it is, they just bought it to look nice, or b) They're just plain rude.
I can talk for ages with someone who drives a DB9 or such because they arent usually muppets and show me some respect. The people that park on a pump and then spend half an hour browsing the shop are quite often in a Porsche ;) Obviously in the perfect world of motors posters such things never happen so I cant really expect you to understand but meh.

Even if we ignore the drivers, I just dont like Porsches as I've said a fair few times but nobody in here seems to possess the intelligence to understand what that means. I must be jealous of them because I dont have a Porsche or a big house....not at all, I'm happy in my life and when I get some money I just wont buy a Porsche :)

Anyways that'll do me for this argument, I just await Fox's smug reply

And this is why this argument is just pointless. You actually beleive people get money (Presumably by being a massive douche, did you know that all you need to do is be a complete **** and money appears) and then go and buy 'Some Porsche'. As long as you continue to think that, there is little point arguing with you.

Had you just said you dont like Porsches, then nobody would have made that link. It was the fact you had to go one step better and brand 99% of owners as morons that made the obvious link between how you feel about yourself and how you take that out on those more succesful than you (or me! I dont know why you think I'm speaking from some sort of position of superiority, given I don't own a Porsche either).

Porsches dont do anything for me unfortunately, i can see why people would like them but i wouldnt ever buy one as there are other cars i prefer in the porsche price bracket.

Thanks :) My personal experiences mean I'm an idiot, cheers.

I wouldn't say it has anything to do with your personal experience, though I would suggest your posting in this thread is providing a pretty solid body of evidence to uphold that view. EVERYONE with a car on this forum has been into a garage, has paid for petrol has gone on their way. We all know the form that process takes. This is why your ability to sum up the type of person based on that few seconds and the car they drive is beyond ridiculous when it's pretty obvious to those reading this thread that you have a serious chip on your shoulder that is driven by a preconception of people you really know NOTHING about, as your utter drivel in this thread shows. We all have opinions, some just don't bare scrutiny and when offered in the way you offer them show the person delivering the gospel as at best flawed and ignorant and at worst quite stupid.

I dont understand the Porsche hatred...

By the same token, I don't understand the loathing for the GT-R and the polarisation it has generated. I'm pretty sure I'm not imagining the same few people trotting out the same, usually uninformed crap, at every chance on forums. Personally, if I don't like a car, I tend to avoid the threads with very specific titles that may just hint it could possibly be about that car. Unless I had an envious axe to grind...or maybe it's like that girl at Uni who you said you hated but deep down, what you really wanted to do was to batter her Cornish.

It may possibly be they don't want to hold up the queue or are slightly embarrassed about talking about their car. I totally underestimated the amount of attention the GT-R would get and I find it a bit uncomfortable to talk about it actually inside a petrol station. There are a bunch of other people there who have no interest and I'd guess would get the wrong end of the stick and assume I'm mouthing off etc.

I've got all the time in the world for anyone who approaches me in a car park, ferry terminal, passing by the house etc, but I'm sure I've come across as rude or stand-offish to a few people simply because it was the wrong place/time to have a chat.

It's just drifted to 'Porsches - great cars or driven by ****'s' instead now as everyone is bored of constant NISSAN GTR PWNZ? threads :p

I'd hazard a guess that for every Nissan thread, there are 10 BMW threads here and a decent amount of Porsche love as well. GT-R threads are shiney and wonderful.

In fact, thread needs more GT-R love...

I'd say the GTR probably, yes the Porsche is the more sophisticated choice, but i'm not very sophisticated.. yes :D

That and the fact that us loaded types don't like to talk to people on minimum wage, they are below us after all and eat from bins I am told. I just pass them to my PA, she can speak to them and give them some change, they'll go away in the end. ;)

strangely my old boss at work... he bought into porsches...knows sweet FA about cars...

he was the type when myself and my line manager were discussing our cars (had a prim GT and he had a Mk2 Golf GTi at the time) the big boss would talk over us and say, 'I drive a porsche'.

but then his private reg is;

DY5KE or similar...

but onto GTR's they are now officially common as muck, i saw 1 this morning in BURY and a different one this evening in Rochdale. thats right 2 in 1 day. i hardly ever see any primera GT's these days:/

I've never met a Porsche owner who wasn't a total petrol head and didn't know the stats inside out. No matter what you earn you don't spend that kind of cash just because you can; you spend it because it's something you know about and want.

I was indifferent to Porsches until I had a Carerra 4S for a week. Now I think they're great and very enjoyable. Neither GTR or the Porsche stacks up to the RX8 but hey :)

Wow! Don't suppose you can find a video of that can you? I do have a soft spot for that Megane it must be said :o

Not the video you were after, but a HD vid of R26R against a 996 GT3RS. I haven't paid the Renault much attention up to now, but that's quite impressive, assuming the Porsche driver was as competent as the Renault driver
