Has OcUK been dragged through a black hole backwards and got its timeframes inverted? Haven't the i5 and i7 platforms knocked the old Q9000 series from its perch?

I guess there are a lot of people who want more speed without the Mobo/RAM upgrade that goes with i5/7.

I myself am a little tempted! ;)

I don't think there gonna bother to keep changing the blurb for each cpu they sell, when new ones come out, and honestly who bothers to read it anyways.

OK I5's and I7's spank this, but not everyone has moved to those platforms yet, and may not for some time, so on the S775 this is basicly one of the best cpus u can get, unless ur willing to spend stupid amounts of money on an extreme series cpu.

So the blurb is true, it is the best on S775 lmao.

Well in my opinion, when it's full of hype like that, changing the blurb is exactly what a decent company should do. Sure, hype a new and awesome product... but months down the line when it's no longer so new and awesome tone down the hype.

the blurb is the same on all sites and is given by intel's marketing iirc. Theres no point in changing it though really. I'd like to think that if someone has the sense to be building thier own pc from these bare components they should know whats hot and whats not, so to speak.

Hard to believe the price hasnt changed in 6 months. Especially considering the two new Intel architectures.

the blurb is the same on all sites...
A Google search shows OcUK is one of only four vendors talking like that and who can't spell, the other three look like they operate out of someone's bedroom.

The top five vendors on Google Shopping don't claim: ..."absolute market-leader in performance and annihilates the competition and benchmarks alike. Want the best? The new Q9000-series from Intel is undeniably it."

Its standard intel marketing blurb... just hasn't been updated heh.

Q9550 is a very good chip tho - clock for clock it usually puts the Phenom II in its wake and can keep up well with the i7 in stuff that doesn't make good use of the extra 4 hyper threads.

Do these overclock well debating if to replace my Q6600, i think they are a tad pricey really compared to I5 which will probably leave them for dead, maybe £20-30 cheaper and a great buy.

They generally overclock quite well... I got mine recently and its upto 3.825gig @ 1.35v on a nForce board which is traditionally bad for overclocking and needs lots of extra vcore - with more voltage it will do 4.2gig stable - but its getting a bit hairy on the voltage needed. Seen people on better boards getting recent ones to 3.825gig on around 1.18-1.2vcore and 4gig on around 1.26.

EDIT: Oh I swapped out a 3.6gig Q6600 for mine (so I could give it to my dad) and didn't really expect much difference but in a few cases its around 40% faster (file extraction, 3D Marks 06), windows does noticeably boot a little quicker and overall framerate in games is a little more steady even when its not that much higher.

i5 is a tad faster tho not hugely - and not worth the money of changing from LGA775/DDR2 to 1156/DDR3 unless you get the i7 860 and are doing stuff that can make use of all 8 threads properly.

Does this get a case with it or something ?

The BP655 is designed to offer quick integration. No peripheral carrier or bezel must be removed for assembly. This allows very quick assembly and reduces costs. An ultra silent 80mm case fan with Intel Thermally Advantaged Small Chassis 1.0 vents help to improve the airflow and optimize thermal performance, keeping temperatures below 39°c. The internal TFX 200W PSU equipped with a temperature control sensor reduces noise allows for quiet operation.

- External Drive Bay: 1x 5.25"
- Internal Drive Bay: 1x 3.5"
- Front Ports: 2x USB 2.0 & HD Audio
- Form Factor: Mini-ITX
- I/O Expansion Slots: 1x Low Profile Card Slot
- Cooling Fan: 80x80x25mm
- Dimensions: 265mm x 100mm x 310mm

That's what it says on the webpage, clearly says at the bottom.
