World war 2 I am sure, because the picture I have in my head is of those planes with the sort of glass bubble near the front bottom - no idea what it's called.

Anyway, the sequences I can remember are:
1) Character running between the different turrets to take down enemies.

2) Landing in order to pick up some survivors (I think) when patrol boats are coming at the player/protagonist.

Going to bug me til I remember what this is from. Sure it wasn't a dream...
