hi all

was looking at this

LG W2452TX 24

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MO-078-LG

the 2 things that stood out was

1920x1200 but the interesting part was that this monitor has Viewing Angles (H/V): 170°/170°

as you knwo a lot of tn panels have a Viewing Angles (H/V): 170°/160°

so the viewing angles on this monitor is not to far from ips panels,

anyone know how good the black levels are and light bleed and how good the responce is, seems to be cheap for a monitor with this spec as the samsungs are about £230 and have worse viewing angles.

anyone got any thoughts on this monitor ? loooks like ocuk just got these in

Well the 170/170 (or 170/160 for that matter) are very "optimistic" figures. Most TN panels are advertised as such, but the angle you actually want to view them at are much tighter. I certainly wouldn't say this LG is that close to an IPS panel for viewing angles.

Check out this page, it compares a very similar LG monitor (also has 170/170) to an e-IPS Dell 2209WA at 50 degrees. The differences are pretty clear. The LG doesn't look too bad (exept the view from the bottom) but clearly not as good as the IPS.

thanks but what would a lg look like up beside the samsung with 170/160 or would the samsung be better as it would be more close to that spec ?

i want a good monitor 24" that is with 1200 res but the dell seems to have so many problems the hp is better but still has problems so for the price i thought of looking at a normal tn panel as these only seem to have viewing angles but no problems.

is there any other monitor i should look at ?

I have just spotted this monitor as I was about to buy the Iiyama 24" @£159.99. Only £20 more but has 1920 X 1200. Is this res better for me for gaming or is 1080 better.
Is the LG the better buy?

They're all lies and specified viewing angle of TNs is as truthfull as "working for common good" talks of political elite.

No need to check anything else than straight on shot for telling TN apart from other LCD panel types, in TN upper edge darkens while bottom looses deepness of dark colours.

Just out of interest I looked at the input lag of a few monitors compared to the Dell 2209WA (sad I know). It seems a lot of TN panelled monitors have a higher input lag, including the 120hz Viewsonic. If memory serves me correctly, I've read several articles saying that TN panels are the best as far as input lag and response times are concerned, my own experience and digital versus seem to say otherwise. The thing that bothers me though, is people who post that the only benefit to getting a non TN panel is the viewing angle, when that isn't always the case.
