^ Lotro - Siege of Mirkwood - Exp ^

I enjoyed LOTRO for the fairly short time I played it, Got my Champion to level 50 and started Moria, but it just seemed so bloody massive, easy to get lost, and fighting more than 1 mob would pretty much result in me being dead, The combat is really clunky and cumbersome, slow-paced etc. The game could've been so much more.

Part of the problem is that Moria was such a massively generous expansion - the extra landmass is enormous, we got the whole legendary weapon system, two new classes, and a host of of other small stuff.

This really feels like it sits halfway between a paid expansion and a free update, especially since a lot of the skirmishes probably re-use existing areas.

I think Rohan, when it comes, will probably be as impressive as Moria was, but calling this a full expansion is a bit cheeky.

btw one of the best changes ingame is to the hunter class, with the combination of 'improved skill reactions' and removal of bow/xbow speeds you can now fire off skill after skill without pauses inbetween, tis like firing a ruddy machine gun !! woohoo ratatatataaaa !! :p just be prepared to perma have no power ! ;p

Only logged on to my champ last night. Didn’t even think about going to mirkwood, will have a look tomorrow morning while its "quiet" but for now I'm enjoying skirmishes.

So far there are only 2 minor things i don’t like bout expansion and those are in regards to mounts. Before I could dismount by pressing shortcut for any of my mounts but now you need to use one for the actual mount you riding. Next one is that you can't anymore "chain" mounting on horse while you mining.

+1

I bought Moria leveled up to 53, finally started at the mines and found it way too daunting. Fed up of constant quests that I couldn't complete because there was no-one about to do them (Snowbourne) and my Kin disbanded, completely lost interest. I went to re-sub but its quite expensive for the original plan I was on.. Has Mirkwood changed it for the better? I'm tempted to just give it a go again if I could rally up some troops to play with. Gaming is so dull by yourself.

There is still a shortcut key to mount/dismount as you please. Find it in the Keymapping menu under Miscellaneous.

Sure, you can't queue up the mount skill during mining but you can talk to NPCs whilst mounted, hand in quests, vendor, use instances and toggle on/off a variety of other skills. Fair enough deal, IMHO.

Loving Mirkwood thus so far. :)
