I literally would have no need for my 13" notebok if the rumours of this Moto are true and if it can play mkv :p

This is a bit worrying but like most of these things, there is often a solution via hack or just fixed in time. I will hope to hear more before I buy
It may be along the same lines as this issue
Sprint rolled out an over-the-air update to its HTC Hero earlier this week to address a couple of bugs and add a few small features. But since the release, some users are reporting that copyright-protected apps have disappeared from their phones. Did this "fix" accidentally break something entirely different?

Those who have lost the copyright-protected apps also report that they can't even find the apps in the Android Market even if they have already paid for them.

Although not in the UK it seems :(

Maybe O2 have a clause in the iPhone exclusivity contract which gives Apple the right to veto the sale of certain other competing phones?
 
Yeah 800k handsets sold in a month? Not too shabby at all. However I think it will be Droid OS as a whole entity, rather than individual handsets which will challenge/topple the iPhone.

I'm seriously thinking about ditching my BB Pearl and getting one of these SIM free :)

I presume you're referring to said etailer with the exclusive. Should only be a couple more days for you, lucky chap. We'll be eagerly awaiting your first experiences!
 
Did you buy the contract or handset alone? I'm tempted to buy out my current contract so I can get this on contract... damn my impatience lol!

anyone know of a way for me to get out of my current orange contract asap? it doesn't end untill march, and while i'm eligible for an upgrade already, obviously orange aren't offering the milestone and wouldn't give it to me without a hefty up-front payment.

Alternatively, could i get the phone on it's contract deal with exclusive-retailer now, and then only activate the contract it comes with when my orange one expires? it's only three months, they won't be too angry. right?

Somewhere like Phones4U would probably offer to buy out the remainder of your contract (buy sticking a wad of notes in your hand) if you took out a new contract phone with them. You could take it out on the most expensive phone they do, sell it and put the money towards a Milestone.

Hmmmm, interesting. it's a shame that the Milestone's exclusive to Expansys for the forseen future.
