The *Official* Eve Online Thread

new browser works rather well (on it now)... i can see a new method of mission running coming... search forums / for cars whilst missioning.

Machariel is nice now also... bought a 7th 1400 republic fleet howitzer and 3 volleys takes out an angel battleship... had a 3,000 damage wrecking :-)

whats the rate of fire on those guns?

PVP in a punisher you want to fit something like this:

High Slots
3x Close range guns T2 (AC's, Blasters or lazers) AC's are the best choice, after that it doesnt matter as the punisher does not have a gun damage bonus.
1xSmall Nos best named.

Med slots
Afterburner
Low CPU scram

Low Slots
Damage Control T2
Adaptive nanno plating T2
Energized Adaptive Nanno Plating T2 (if you done have good skills or can use AC's youll have to swap this for a Adaptive Nanno plating T2)
Small Armor Rep T2

Edit: thats for smaller gangs, in bigger ones if just fit for full damage, and a microwarp drive because youll either be primary and die really fate or you wont and youll inflict a lot moe pain.

All that T2 stuff is gonna make it a bit expensive though. Frigs don't have a long life expectancy. I'd keep it with T1 variants and only pick on weaker frigs or industrials. If you're flying in a gang though, frigs are realy just for tackle mainly, and frig superiority as a possible secondary. Punisher isn't the best for tackle, only having 2x mids. I fly mainly amarr stuff, but don't remember ever using any of their frigs, except executioner for fast transport. I like min frigs a lot better, rifter is probably the toughest t1 frig in the game, vigil is pretty good for tackling/EW iirc, although not flown one recently.

Guys ive just returned to eve and im looking for a decent t2 fitting for a hulk if someone can help me out.

Ill be in 0.0 so will need to tank as much as possible.

Cheers

Dont under estimate frigs in PVP. T2 it if you can they only cost 8-10mil each which is nothing. People fight in frigs a lot in lowsec, its cheap and fun. 10mil is so cheap compared to the useual stuff I fly about in (Hacs 200+, Recons 180+, BS's 230+ and Command Ships 400ish). Even a fully kitted out cruiser your looking at 40-50 mill and a fully kitted out BC your looking at over 100.

Frigs are not all about tackeling and speed, generally if the targets out of scram range you wont catch them anyway. The punisher is a great frigate, as is the rifter.

A small gang of 3 or 4 frigs is ever so much fun, killing battle ships takes awhile but they do go down.

I'm still not used to all this T2 stuff, cruiser's used to be cheap to kit out. When I stopped playing there were like 3 classes of T2 ships, and a handful of modules. 8-10 mil sounds a lot still, used to kit my intys out for less than that when they were new-ish!

To put it into perspective, 8-10 mill is about 10 mins shooting a level 4 mission if even that, its really not much isk. sometimes its best to go best named becuase there so common (hence cheap) but a lot of the time its not.

a lot of T2 is cheaper than the better named stuff now days tbh. And your probably going to make the money back on insurance anyway

Am I right in saying this is £13 a month? I purchased the game on steam when it was something like £3 and used the trial but didn't if you get me lol. So now I want to try it for a month but it's saying it's going to cost 15 euros plus 5 euros for activation, even though I would have thought me buying the game in the first place would mean I shouldn't have to pay it? I dunno I'm new and paying monthly for a game I bought is a little different for me lol.

my friend just started Tobes; he downloaded the client from their webby (not steam) played the 14 day free, then bought a gtc in dollars and just....made it a full account.

i know if you go through steam you can get a 21 day trial instead of 14 but as you said you never played it anyway it might be cheaper option

anyway, hth. o/

My sub expires today and with chrimbo around the corner I'd be a naughty man if I was to resub!! Highly tempted to though! Maybe get some of this frig pvp action in :).

Have to admit I'm really, really starting to enjoy this game. After finally joining a corp a week or so ago we launched our Player Owned Station into 0.2sec space, in the Essence Region. Last couple of nights we've been gate camping and hunting war targets in the region in a fleet varying between 5-10 in size. It's been absolutely class.

I'm a tad gutted I can't take my Retriever out to mine, even in high sec though due to the war decs we inherited from the alliance we joined 3 days ago!

I've even started a third character so I'll have one for PvP, one for mining\hauling and a third for research and manufacturing. Learning the learning skills at the moment on the third character but I'm not sure quite where to go to get to a decent base level of research and manufacturing yet.

Player Owned Structure, you can't make "Stations" in low sec, the ones you can make are called Outposts.

If you want to move into invention i'd pick a group of items you want first, as they need different racial skills, which would help if you are stapped for cash.
Getting your own research agents would be a good idea too, minimise the invention costs then.

Ah so I should really specialise then? Out of those three I'd be most interested in manufacturing I'd say. Especially having my own miner\hauler.

EvE Mon won't sync up at the moment (are the servers down or is my work firewall having my life?) so I'll have to look into it in more depth when I get home.

I'm constantly amazed at the depth of this game though.

Didn't know L4 was so profitable! I tend to drift between different things in Eve, so only just got back into mission running, and am only on L3 atm.

Man there's so much stuff to Eve that I don't know much at all about. Just been reading up on wormholes, and probing, need to look into POS/stations, T3, invention, research agents, ice + gas mining, shedloads of new ship types, and probably a billion other things!!!

Anyone have an idea for a decent Solo PVP ship for 0.0? I can fly anything Gallente (So HACs etc) (Use upto T2 Blasters and Rails..
