rage against the x-factor - Outcome: RATM is the Christmas Number One!

130,000 members now. I think the X-factor record last year sold ~580,000 before Christmas, so it's a way to go, and that's assuming everyone on the facebook group does actually buy the RAtM single. It's growing fast at the moment though, so keep checking back! :D

So what he's saying is:

Don't be a sheep and buy the X-Factor single
Be a sheep and all buy this other one instead!

Awesome. I'm all for RatM pulling a surprise number one, but the irony behind this is just silly.

Irony?

Hardly.

How do you expect such a plan to work if it's not organised?

If they simply said "Don't buy X-Factor single" how would that ensure it didn't hit number one?

Everyone has to go for a specific track for this to work otherwise this wouldn't be a revolt.

There's nothing wrong with a bit of organisation to achieve a goal, there's no "Irony" (do people even understand what this word means?) or being a sheep involved. :o

I'm in support of this, not only because RATM is great, but I can't stand X-Factard nonsense.

I'll be spreading the word of this myself.

13th - 19th of December from either 7Digital, iTunes or Play.com

I'll be in on those dates if this thread gets bumped then, otherwise I'll forget :o

It is a bit silly really, regardless if it reaches number one or not the xfactor single will still have the same amount of people buy it and pocket mr cowell the same amount of £££.

By selecting another song to push to the top spot, you just give lots and lots of cash to another artist.

The ironic part is the fact that people are attempting to fix it so xfactor cannot win because they are annoyed that it is a foregone conclusion that they do win every year.

It's ironic because they are attempting to fix it to beat what is considered a fix every year anyway.

It's not irony, it's levelling the playing field.
Crap acts get an awesome platform via X-factor (not even Top Of The Pops gave us this type of continual diet of force fed tripe), that not even a facebook group can match, but at least it gets a little bit closer.
I'm doing it. I don't care if I'm lining the pockets of Sony execs, it's worth it.

You say it's ironic, but that's about it. The reason for it being ironic is most definitely not there.

It's not ironic at all.

Doesn't necessarily follow. This facebook group will undoubtedly get a lot of press, the papers will be reporting on it soon enough... when that happens you can guarantee it will make a lot of people think about their purchase of the x-factor single, be it because they've realised it's a good idea or because they're just following a trend.

The word of mouth affect will be strong too. This all coupled with the constant scripted controversy that is tiring hardcore fans of xfactor I think Mr Cowell could be in for a slightly lighter wallet this year.

He goes on and on about loving music when in fact he is the one that is killing it.

is leona doing an Oasis cover BTW?

I think she is covering "stop crying your heart out" or has covered it, not sure if she is releasing it though.

I think I'm going to buy a copy of the X-Factor's single, I don't buy singles at all, never followed X-Factor in my life and don't care in the slighest about Christmas #1, but anything to protest protesters.
