**The Dragon Age Origins Thread **

Think i'm going to remove morrigan. She's not that awesome and dissaproves of everything i do. Going to go for an all out melee party! Should be... difficult.

She approves... so long as your a *******.

Was great when i threatened the Reverand Mother in Lothering to give me Stens cell key. Morrigans excitement when i threatened her (+4 influence) Alistairs desperate excuses (-14 influence) or something like that.

I'm really in for this now... travelling with Morrigan, Leliana and Wynne. Morrigan and Wynne are exact opposites and Leliana is just weird :p

I've got Morrigan, Wynn and Alistair in my party. I account for 48% of party damage even though Alistair has much better defense he always goes down. I guess I just don't look after him. I should really drop him for a Rogue but I kinda like him in my team.

Nearly 40 hours in, lvl 14/15, 21% complete with 58% world explored. Graphics should be loads better and the loot system is a bit lacking, but other than that so far it's really good.

Speaking of rogues, what skill determines how effective you are in unlocking chests/doors etc? I even tried that assasin rogue but he was crap tbh.

Are you using AOE spells? I daresay he's being caught in the damage radius.

There's a trait (Security I think), a skill (can't remember the name) and high dexterity. All of these have an effect as I recall.

Massive tip especially when your playing on harder difficulties....kit your entire team out, don't let anyone have crap gear.

I have to admit, I was finding 'normal' difficult to hard, yes I am a noob. I moved it to 'easy' and now I'm finding the game a lot more enjoyable.

Maybe when I understand the game more I'll be able to turn the difficulty up.

Er, have you actually read the skills? Its fairly obvious ><

But you need 35 Cunning + max lockpick to open the strongest locks.

Alistair needs Massive Armour. For some stupid reason agro is directly related to type of armour, Massive Armour gets the most agro. Fatigue increase is meaningless really in comparison.

Why do you need to set a tactic for that...? Surely if people are dieing that often that you need to set a tactic for it you have serious problems. Not to mention the waste of mana could get you killed more so than been a man down briefly.

Anyone else think this would make a really good MMO?

No.

Half rate games are good for MMOs. Constantly pushing the barrier back, making itself redundant every 6 months by adding new stuff to grind on and thus rendering the previous 6 months ultimately pointless because 90% of the game occurs at th final "level" (until next time!) are the characteristics of an MMO.

Suffice to say, some games really are too good to ruin like that. This game has far too much depth and story, and dialogue, to make into an MMO. People are impatient and short tempered, they wouldnt be able to hack all the talking and trying to win people over and searching every nook and cranny for clues and items without massive arrows going "ITS OVER HERE LOOK".

In my opinion this game suceeds exactly where it's meant to. At a long, in depth, involved single player experience.

Well said. I agree entirely.

Maybe not an MMO, but I hope to God they make it online like the first NWN 1. This has so much potential for toolset created role playing communities!

Well this game just surprised the living crap out of me.

I'm on my second run through the game (cheating a tad with console use but still) and I thought I had the end events towards the Landsmeet sewn up. Nothing has managed to stand in my way in terms of enemies since I know the game well now...or so I thought.

Basically I got backstabbed by an in-game character and am a bit PEEVED. So this second run with the same race (hooman) has turned out slightly different towards the end - top stuff for Bioware actually succeeding where they failed to in Mass Effect.

Is this worth it guys?
I'm considering buying it as a treat :D

Thing is, I don't want some pretty WoW type thing - I played LOTRO for a bit until I couldn't afford to pay the Sub payments (during my skint student days). Is this anything like that? (LOTRO) It does look a good crack, and for £15 I am tempted.

quick q guys...if a party member dies does he/she still get the xp of the kills it got when alive?

Im not too sure of the death penalty I presume its just the debuffs? but says nothing about xp :(

There's a good Bow skill which I think was called "Slayer". It kills most enemies with one shot. So if you have several members with this skill even the tougher of enemies are brought to their knees. Remember crossbows require STR so you only need enough dex to learn the skill. So it shouldn't ruin any melee based char if you learn them that skill.

I had one of my chars level up while out cold on the ground. They only really die if the whole party is taken out.
