This happened the other day.

Was waiting for a package to be delivered when the doorbell rings, thought it was them. So I quickly rushed to the door and found this little middle aged woman carrying a basket:

"Hello my dear, can you give me some money, I am a gypsy"

me: "sorry I dont have any change on me at the moment"

her: "Yes you do, god save you"

Is this common now? Gypsies coming to your door asking for money straight out, not selling anything just straight out door-to-door begging?

I'd ask for some identification tbh, this time of year I could see people exploiting fake gypsy heritage.

remember to lock your house tightly when you go out from now on :/ happened to a friend a few years back, they basically go round checking out houses

I wouldn't worry about it mate...

Unless you shamed her of course.

I would have rang the local police station to be honest, I imagine it has something to do with burglary.

She was really trying to sell you a dry sprig of heather from her basket. Don’t you know what happens when you don't give her some money and close the door in her face, she puts a curse on you. :D

This...ive had a few around my area come knocking on my door and have told them in no uncertain terms to **** off...but make sure you lock all your doors and windows anytime you go out or go to sleep.

Had an incident back in the summer where some little **** somehow jimmied my front door open and tried to steal my brothers VW R32:eek::p...suffice to say the muppet was so clueless that he didnt see the front room light on where my brother has his room..so my brother walked out and rugby tackled him to the ground..smacked his a few times in the face for good measure and called the police and he was arrested...luckily nothing was stolen but its taught us to double lock our front door everytime we go out or go to sleep. This happened at 4am in the morning believe it or not...good thing my brother was awake for some odd reason:p.

Fancy turning away a poor starving old lady whilst the smell of Sunday dinner wafts from your house, You Wrong'un.

:p:p:p

I got badly fleeced by a gypsy once :( she was evil though she basically chased after me till I stopped then wouldn't stop hounding me to buy this stupid bit of heather because she said it was " for the children " whatever that means ! .. I did buy it but I gave her a stupid amount.

That's not cricket tbh. :/ I hate the stereotype term 'gypsy', but living on a farm, we have trouble with such people all too often. :( They come around asking for 'the boss' and what not, but appear to only be interested in all of the expensive machinery we have. We haven't been robbed in years now, which is good, but it's pretty much inevitable that it will happen again. :(

Naffa read your post again mate.

To me it says you have had Loads of gypsies coming on to your land asking to see the Boss/Owner & even though there is Loads of expensive machinery about Nothing has been stolen in Years.
