rage against the x-factor - Outcome: RATM is the Christmas Number One!

I don't see why people aren't just happy to not buy the xfactor music.

I love "real" music and I'm happy to just listen out for my type of music.

Surely if all of us that love our "real" music got our music to be mainstream we'd probably hate it and find something else that most people don't like?

If rage against the machine were as popular as the xfactor they'd be Pop music and xfactor wouldn't be

You see people argue and argue over music and at the end of the day it's easy to look from an outsider of an argument and think it's ridiculous

good post. nail hit on head.

It's not Simon Cowell's fault, he's just taking advantage of the remarkably low average IQ of X-Factor viewers. Anybody with a business mind would do the same

I don't think that's quite the same thing, given that the X Factor is bombarded at morons for 3 months of the year. What the hell else are they expected to do when a single is released?

This Internet campaign involves rather more of a decision on the part of the Rage buyers.

no one is forcing anyone to watch xfactor, or buy the single.

I disagree, I think it's pretty much the same.

i bet less than a 3rd buy it though.

I'd be curious to know the margins involved in last year's Burke/Buckley campaign, but I can't find any numbers on how close it was. Might give some indication of how much membership the group would need to be successful.

I wish people would stop pointing out the irony.

Every goddamn thing anyone ever does is open to hypocrisy. Yeah, so I'm giving money to a faceless corporation in order to somehow not screw over another faceless corporation that probably has deals going on with the former corporation.

Oooh. Maybe we should all just get our music from illegal torrent sites so we can be free of all this irony...

Apart from the fact that they're actually the same corportation IIRC.

Aren't RATM and X-Factor BOTH on the SONY label?

Who cares? I don't. I buy loads of music from all sorts of labels as it is. I'm cross about the X Factor's rape of the Christmas number 1, not about Sony making money.

They're all in bed with each other.

The point is if you want to stop giving money to the 'big bad corporations' that kill little children then you'd simply have to stop buying commercial music altogether.

People are really missing the point that it would just be funny to see RATM at #1 for Christmas :D
