Oil Filled Radiator Heaters Anyone have them?

Some are more efficient than others no doubt, my house has storage heaters and they are completely useless. They are cold by the evening when we are actually home and need them. We bought 2 2kw oil filled radiators to use instead. It's a 1 bedroom flat and we have one in the bedroom and one in the front room.

We only need them on for an hour in the morning and then maybe an hour in the evening, they warm up really fast and hold the heat for quite a while even once tou switch them off.

I replaced my storage heater with one, and it does a better job.

Its cheaper, easy to put away (if you don't mount it) isn't ugly and isn't the size of a huge suitcase.

Why would you want to heat up your bedroom, or any room, when you are not going to use it.
What a waste of energy.

Maybe you should be looking at the climate change thread.

Think before you use before you waste.

What are you talking about? Where does it say he isn't going to use the room, it's his bedroom

Well if it is to keep your baby warm then that is fine.

If you heat the room, do not wrap the baby in blankets.

Surely it depends on context, alas the world isn't as black and white as you seem to be implying.

If it's -3 in the room (as it was in my room the other night), you want to warm the room up regardless of blankets or not.

If you have three in a room you need less contrived heat?

Using a Delonghi Dragon here, getting on a bit now actually but it's fantastic for heating the room I'm in. Couple of hours and the room is getting to the uncomfortable warm stage...
I've not had a bill yet, but I've been watching how many units I've used since moving in here. It's not bad at all, especially compared to other electric heating I've used.

We have some, they're made by "Nobo". They're excellent heaters - if you have an energy efficient home where the heat doesn't escape easily they really heat up the room and then switch off.

With our Nobo heaters, we have this ace little control panel which uses wireless to connect to them and we can control when they come on individually by day.

Oil filled radiators are hideously expensive to run. Better to use the gas heating - warm the whole house up for pretty much the same cost.

I wouldn't feel happy leaving one in a room with a young child in it. They can get VERY hot and I would be worried about burns if accidentally touched.

Although, again I wouldn't lave one unattended in a child's room, a 750watt/1.5KW thermostatically controlled fan heater is a good way to quickly warm up one room chaply.
