Gordon Brown attacks public sector pay

back to topic people..... cmmon...

Anyway, I work in the public sector and I can tell you that a lot of people in this environment bloomin work hard!!! What I disagree with here is that people are on HIGH salarys for very little output thus milking it! Just like what Fox said in his earlier posts. The support staff for different companies work bloomin damn good for the buttons that they are paid (most anyway). The government because of this factor of removing funding is going to cause harm to the education in the UK. There are going to be BIG redundancies where I work and your talking one of the biggest colleges around where I live. Watch this space with education people. It's going to change BIG TIME!

The fact is that Brown knows the majority of the public are loathing and have a general misconception of public sector workers, (many automatically assume local government). This is a cheap tactic to get misguided votes.

I don't personally know anyone who earns £150k per year where I work, which I agree is excessive for any local government worker regardless of rank.

However, Brown and his advisors also know that many people are ignorant enough to think that their average refuse collector is earning this amount. Psychology my dear friends I tell you!

Its not what people earn, well some of it, its the amount of jobs created under blair, which lead to a massive injection of money into the system via wages that caused the problems, among other things, like the way local govenrments came up with new polices that need jobs to fill, which created other polices that needed jobs to fill ... iam talking about the pen pushers not the front line staff ( traditional staff), well apart from psos or what ever they are called.

No but their spending policies didnt help.
Didn't help in what way? They caused the recession, or put is in a weak position to deal with it?

Please give me an example of such a person that thinks their average refuse collector is earning this amount? Wake up, this is politics. To make such comment aimed solely at Brown, rather than all politicians and political party policy is the height of ignorance.

Nope, didnt see it

No need for the sarcasm tho TBH... People fall on hard times, Very possible that very soon I will be one of them. For ppl that have worked and are actively looking for work - why would anyone have a problem with them claiming the dole etc ??

As I said, IMHO, there are "legit" and "non-legit" claimants for benefits e.g. -

Working family claiming childcare relief - legit
non-working families having more kids for benefits - non-legit
Someone seeking work and claiming dole - legit
Someone claiming their 20th year of methadone (bearing in mind its meant to a substitute that you wean off of) - non-legit.

Harsh ?? Maybe but dont connect my views with some kind of priviledged upbringing or that I think I am better than anyone because I didnt and I dont....

Don't disagree with you. However, still don't think you have read my post to understand where I am coming from.

matt if you want people to take you seriously stop reading a website and spewing it up all over the forums as fact - and get a spell checker.

both really, the recession was an indirect cause due to the monetary expansion, there were warning signs in 2005.

Problem is that you are obviously intelligent enough to know better. However, I could give you plenty of examples where I live but that wouldn't be good data protection wise!

C'mon, you don't take that literally do you? Whilst exaggerated, I do feel it highlights something worth thinking about!

Just to let you know theres not 1 business or 1 government or 1 single working person to blame for the recession. It's caused by a knock on effect all around the world (EVERYONE). Everyone is to blame, every business is to blame and every non working class is to blame. I wish people would stop trying to put the blame into other peoples palms and just face up to it.

After some of the threads people have read I think registering a new username would probably be the easiest way of getting some credibility back. :D

iam just waiting for the PFI issues to come to pay.

I've been extremely curious as to what effect this will have as well.

Small and medium-sized business are heavily involved in the PFI projects, if theres no funding then the government needs to turn to other sources mainly non uk for funding. If they cant fund them it means lots of PFI contract would fail bring down various areas of PFI investment, ie staff layoffs. putting pressure on large business PFI contracts.

Are they?

I thought differently. Mainly large companies.

PFI is going to be a laugh, how it got agreed at the time is beyond me.

whats a laugh is whether i should create a new thread or post the link here lol. Because the number is just so big. because its a blood bath for public sector workers.
