My New Car and Ongoing Progress Thread - Long winded w/pic's

:(

Very nice car mate! Was tempted by a 7 myself but went for the rally **** that sounded better:D

Hehe, I knew that comment might cause some controversy. The smilie indicates the jest I thought at the time :p

Horses for courses - as long as you enjoy it, thats what counts :D

Nothing against Subaru's whatsoever, excellent cars with amazing history, engines and heritage. In fact the sensible option would have been to buy an Impreza - could have got a much younger one for the money - I looked at P1's and Blobeye WRX STI's on more than one occasion.

I just had to get an Evo. Can't really explain it, just was in my blood from when I first saw one.

As for the sound, it doesn't have the burble. But everytime I start it and hear that rumble, followed by the whine in first gear, it sends a shiver up my spine :)

Awesome. I was slightly concerned the Honda replacement might have been something sensible and crap, you didn't disappoint though :D

What happened to the rear window visors though?

Aha so this is what BBx was talking about!

Fantastic car mate - though always liked your honda too. :)

What do your folks think about it? :D

Looks like you've got the car of your dreams, researched it well, and clearly have a passion to ensure it's kept running well.

Enjoy it!

Thanks mate. Although the temptation to buy a Honda Insight was strong, I resisted :D

Sorry Jonnycoupe :o

The previous owner removed the rear wind deflectors :(

Apparently he didn't like them and destroyed them in the process :(

I'll be looking out for replacements, although Mitsu ones are ridiculously expensive apparently.

Indeed.

Top car OP! :cool::cool::cool:

I feel old. :(

Thanks mate :)

Thanks mate, took my dad out in it yesterday to go to 'Frauds (For a tool chest - don't panic).

Me: When you drive this, you need to be careful you don't jab at the throttle.
Dad: Whys that.
Me: Because this happens.
<Whoooooooooooooosh>
Dad: Aaaaaah, Good grief!!

:D:D:D

Both are insured on it as it brings down the cost of insurance. The thought of my little Chinese mother driving a 380bhp Evo brings a simultaneous grin and grimace to my face.

I could never detail a car belonging to me like that because I know I would break down in tears after 2 mins on one of the roads here. It would be coated in mud again in no time.

Epic work though. V Nice. :D

Awesome car, echoing others, it looks absolutely great and doesn't look it's age at all!

Enjoy it, I'm sure you will, very jealous :)

Thanks mate :)

LOL! I can't imagine your mum driving it, but thanks for putting the thought in my head! :D Though I can't imagine you letting your sis drive it either! ;)

I can imagine your dad's reaction - is he likely to borrow it?

Nice one, really like the colour  Dont think Ive ever seen a 7 in that colour. My favourite is the 9, but after that, the 7 would get my vote over the 8.

Too many badges on the back for my taste and the MR one is a bit pointless as they never did a 7 MR (unless Im mistaken).

Can I have a go please when you come round , Promise I wont make you scream like a little girl again :D

No! :D

Agreed mate, Eisen grey is my favourite colour, probably followed by white, then black. 9 was too expensive for me as mentioned above.

As for the badges - MLR badge will be coming off and as for the MR badge:

Oh and before anyone comments on the MR badge - I know.

And regarding the legality of the front plate - I know.

You are correct that there never was an 7 MR, I think the previous owner got a bit excitable that it has an 8 MR turbo and probably wanted to hide the age as well. Regardless, I went up to to Jap Performance parts on friday and have a VII badge now for the princely sum of a tenner.

It's on a list of many things to do, to make the car "mine" ;)

What do you reckon? Just replace the MR for the "VII"? I was toying of spraying the "VII" red like the MR badge as I think as aside from it being irrelevant, it looks quite nice in red.

Thanks for your comments though.

Doubt he'll borrow it unless he absolutely has to. I genuinely think he's scared of it.

Awesome, would love one in that colour, although i'd not want to take it out if it was as clean as yours.

Yeah I do know what you mean, but you can't really live like that. I'll just be careful where I park it - even if it means a longer walk :)

Lovely car.

How long as the Autobahn IC been on the car - only ask because I was advised to avoid buying one for my Impreza.

The core is very poor and there have been incidents where parts of the core have been injested by the engine. Least for Impreza application anway.

That's gorgeous in that colour. I've always liked the Evo series, wish i could afford one :/

It's also got a reasonably sensible exhaust on it too! My main bone of contention with Evo and Sub owners is the head sized exhausts they fit.

Nice, really nice. Good work!
