Yo, i'm 21 with 4yncb and i currentley have a Audi S3 Quattro, the old shape on a T plate. Owned it since i was 19 and i am possibly thinking of changing in the coming months. Been looking and i cannot seem to find anything that makes me wanna buy it. Looking at around 10k, but would like to spend a lot less and i am saving for a morgage aswell and don't quite know if i can justify 10k on a car. Dont mind on age, prob say oldest at 8 years. All i want is a 0-60 time of around 6.5 sec like my S3, just fancy something diffrent, even a diesel ! Been looking at BMW 330d, but a little bit over my budget for a good one.

I look forward to any suggestions, thanks people !

If you're saving for a mortgage surely the last thing you want is a performance car? Spend 3k on something economical and cheap for a couple of years, get your mortgage and gradually move back into the performance car market.

get an E46 330i. you can get a mint one for under £7k

but if you want to save money, get something cheap for well under £5k and go from there
if you still want the speed but not bothered about the handling, you could easily get something turbocharged and swedish for under £5k

Better the devil you know in this case, if your S3 is in good mechanical order and you've looked after it i wouldn't change, stick with your current car imho.

Sensible comment. And youve had plenty of time with a performance car, an Audi S3 at 19 :eek:

Lucky sod. :p

what about an a3 1.8t. just as much fun as an s3 if you put a few mods on the a3. a3 is cheap as chips and costs peanuts to run

Change to a BMW 330ci if you fancy a change. It will feel a much nicer car to be in, far from a powerhouse but they are economical, and drive very well indeed. I think this would be my choice.

I really do see you point about a cheaper car but I love my S3 and I would miss the power, driven a few other cars since I had the S3 and driving did not feel the same.

Very good point, it's on 88,000 atm and I was thinking of changing just before 100k, but like you said i have looked after it well. Full service history at Audi, excellent tyres, etc. It's never (touch wood) cost much to look after, and its never broke down or gone wrong (touch wood again). So if i did spend 7-8k or whatever i don't know what i'm buying.

Try a 330ci mate. They actually have more peak power (less usable though due to being a revvy N/A) than your S3, and drive a lot better. They are also a nicer car to be in and live with. :)

Much nicer car to be in ? I think a 330i will be faster then mine, but not sure about the economy but will most likely be the same?

I guess nicer is subjective, but i think they are, see below for one i had for a bit incase you are unfamiliar with how their interiors look;

I'm not sure if they would be faster or not, they are not massively powerful, but they really are tons of fun, the drive beautifully (like all BMW Sport models do). :)

You could always hop over to a newer Leon Cupra R but I guess it'll be all too familiar. If you are happy with the car, keep it until something comes along that makes you want to switch.

I'd keep the S3 if you cant decide what to get. It's not a bad car. Change if there is something else you really want, but there doesnt seem to be and change for change sake is how you end up wasting loads of cash on cars.

A 330d is not an S3 replacement.
