**The Dragon Age Origins Thread **

Shale is one of the most amusing companions, but I had to kill her at the Anvil. In fact in my second play through, I've killed Shale, Leliani, Loghrain and Wynne.

Oh well, i'm taking the route that Shale would love this time... i would switch him out but i want to see if Sten has any reaction.

Shame, would be funny taking out Golems with 3 2-handed Warriors using Telekinetic Weapons, they'd go down in seconds.

One thing I learnt in my first play through is 2 handed Warriors miss all the time and die to quickly. Sword and Shield is the only way to go. Even Dagger and Shield is better.

I took the same root but in my first play through but I hadn't met Shale at the time. So I didn't have to kill her.

My Dwarf begs to differ. I've never had such an easy battle with the Ogre in the Tower of Ishal. Currently level 10, been wandering for a bit and just started the first primary now (Orzammar for Oghren) with Sten, Alistair and Morrigan. Using Starfang, probably the best 2 hander in the game with full Blood Dragon Plate Armour.

It can also be the best 1 hander in the game if you get it forged that way ;)

I had Alastair use it for most of the game with a shield, playing through now again without him, going Sten and 2H, and damn, it hurts in comparison. Haven't gotten starfang again yet mind you.

I was actually wearing it the moment i left Lothering at lvl...7? Along with Bergens Honour as my Helm i've got 37 Armour and thanks to Indomitable, am immune to knockdown/stun. Constitution is 15, the default for a Dwarf Warrior, Dexterity i don't think has been touched either, bout 80-90% in Str, rest in Willpower and 2 points in Cunning, i need more from the Fade ><

Eventually i'll probably upgrade the Warden Commander Armour once i can to Tier 7 and use that instead thanks to the huge Stamina bonus, if not i'll use Wades Superior Dragonplate, with Oghren/Sten fighting over Blood Dragon, Juggernaught Armour and Wardens. Key to 2handed is micro'ing it. Moment you land a regular hit just trigger a special move to get attacks in quickly. Not to mention i've just got Two Handed Sweep for Sten and myself which causes KD and Crit Strike/Mighty Blow both cause a crit for Shattering purposes. Once i replace Alistair with Oghren my party will be complete.

On a side note, Sten is a great character it turns out. When a merchant is holding out on you saying "Sten, tear his arms off" really gets the job done :p

Is there a way of uploading your party statistics, including items etc?

Would be interesting to see what people are rocking.

Seems theres just the Bioware Network which is stupidly slow to update and doesn't show your party.

It was a nice idea but it doesn't show enough. Only showing your main character without showing Attack/Defence/Armour/Spellpower/Crit Chance/Armour Penetration/Damage and Item Stats seems a little pointless. Specially when your party setup matters more than what your Main Char is. Its nice to see but just not enough.

So far i've completed it on an Elf Mage partied with Wynne, Zevran and Shale/Alistair. Gotten a Dalish Rogue to lvl12 running 2x Rangers w/ Pets and 2x Mages (quite amusing, even if the bears are fat ******** and suck indoors) and going through on a 2-hander with the intention of mobbing things with Sten, Oghren and Myself with Morrigan running Support/Heal.

I stand by the fact that the Respec Mod is god.

You can play with 1-4 legit and higher using console commands. Its just not advisable really.

Can you just play with only one character or do you have to have a minimum of three or four members ?

If you mean, can you play it as a single character hack 'n slash game, not really. It's technically do-able, but many of the battles will be impossible, and half the game revolves around your party and their stories.

I cant imagine being able to get through much of the game with 1 character in your party. Perhaps 2 if you were a healer and got Shale early on but you'd eat through consumables. Alistair might work later on but he'd need to have built up his threat/sword and board skills.

And as above, it would be dull. The stories and interaction between party members is what makes the game great.

Maybe someone will make something using the campaign editor? Since triggers may rely on stats or items in inventory, there would be a way of recording what stats or items that character has.

In time, i guess. Bioware have made character viewers and exporters for it's other games.

Ok, ta for the reply. Was wondering as I saw some gameplay videos and I just don't think I could stand the repetitive speech loops during combat. Figured that on my own I wouldn't get this. Oh well worth a try.

Great challenge though. BG2 players like to play through the game solo, given it's a 6 character party game it can be quite a challenge at times!

It's always Clerics and Paladins though.

Apparently its doable solo even on Nightmare, though i'm yet to see proof. I saw a post on the Bioware forum of someone claiming to have done it on a Rogue, frankly i call bull**** that he did it alone (from Lothering onwards) without the exp exploit or console commands without proof. You probably could solo everything on a Arcane/Blood Mage but you'd never survive to lvl14 to get both specs.

You could possibly spend an eternity laying traps and glyphs and stuff, but my god it would melt your brain doing stuff like that for the the entire game
