dirt 2 benchmarks dx9 vs dx 11

Don't like yours much hyperst ...

My 4830s do 51avg/36min @1680x1050

Tom's results look very sweet - Could be that i7 pushing it up but not that high I would thought ?

well it play silky smooth at that so im happy, remember thats with v sync on, i get better results if its off but i wont be playing with it off as i detest tearing:D and at a guess toms is with v sync off;).
oh and remember yours wont be dx11.
my min is actually higher than toms aswell.;)
also toms sig says he runs an i5 750 not an i7.

exactly;) and results of mine and yours look to be where they should be:)

was v sync on or off tom?
also are your 5770's clocked at all?

Which means it is a lot more intensive if anything, I'll run a 1680x1050 benchmark for you now ;)

VSYnc off and not clocked, and I suspect it doesn't matter that you have VSync on since your results aren't near 60FPS and that's presuming you have a 60HZ display.

i just ran with v sync off

8xAA ultra

60fps avg

50fps min
looks as though your i5 @4ghz is a slight improvment to avg fps

i understand what your saying here but without v sync on it tears quite bad

I think it's interesting comparing some of the results. Here we see that an overclocked 5850 can manage the same framerate at 1920x1200 4xAA as two 5770s at 1680x1050 8xAA. Interestingly the price of such a setup is pretty much the same, making the 5850 a much better purchase for upgradability. To me there's absolutely no point buying two 5770s if you're going to get them at the same time. I suppose it was different when supply was more constrained but currently cards are available here.

The 5770's overclock like demons that could be beaten with some tweaking no doubt oh and you're basing this on Dirt 2 there are many many games where the 5770 Crossfire wipes out the 5850 and is normally on par with a 5870 sometimes faster..

just ran it again at 1920 x 1080 8xaa ultra

avrage 68.7fps

min 45.5fps

spec in sig with 5850 at 840/1170

edit - vsync off.

luckly i did this 1 today!

at 1920 x 1080 4xaa ultra

avrage 49.3

min 41.7fps

spec in sig with 5850 at stock

indeed, thats why i decided to have ago at clocking the card.... was'nt to sure if i should flash the bios or just use AMD cpu tool and msi AB decided to go with the software clock for now

yep pretty happy with it, clock speed is up from 725mhz to 840mhz core which is a pretty big jump and memory from 1000mhz to 1170mhz... i did try 860 core but i was getting artifacts(sp?) when benching dirt so decided to drop the core abit... havent tried any other clocks yet i'm sure it has more to give as i've only set the voltage to 5870 default which is 1.15v.. the volts in msi afterburn goes up to 1.4v
