TV License question

So if i've got a TV, plugged in, receiving a live broadcast, but have software built into the TV delaying the signal by 2 minutes, so what I'm watching isn't actually live, do I still have to get a TV license?

(Note: Because I know some people on here really are that totally super cereal, I'm joking)

Yes, because you are receiving live broadcasts, even if you're not watching them live.

NO!

And here I thought you knew what you were talking about, given that you were the one that complained about people here talking rubbish.

If you don't use the equipment for receiving broadcasts, you don't have to pay.

Apologies. Rules they haz changed since I last looked many years ago. They've been updated to cater for the myriad of recording devices and different methods of watching the transmissions.

You now need a licence if you watch or record TV as it is transmitted. Irrespective of the device being used. And that includes mobiles.

So, if you use a tv only to watch DVDs then that's OK. But good luck in convincing TV Licensing of that. And who uses a TV just to watch DVDs these days?

My point was that the statute law on TV licenses will trump any "contract" that you care to argue about.

No one makes a "contract" with the treasury, but good luck with not paying your taxes.

You do, you sign over your parents sign over rights to the government when your born, birth cert. I dont pay for a TV license because its robbery and should be left to the free market not forced upon you. The reason they changed the TV license was to fiddle the cpi.
Your right s now from the magna carter have been chucked out the window and being replaced by the Lisbon treaty need to prove your innocence, rather than they need to prove your guilt.

Standing there silent in your doorway in front of the inspector? Go one better, tell him to leave, this overrides his implied right of access to your front door. If he stays; he's trespassing.

Asking the BBC not to transmit into your house? Erm, no, OFCOM regulate the airwaves, not you; and the BBC have paid for the segments they use.

:D

Please enlighten me as to what on earth the Lisbon Treaty has to do with your TV licence?

If you watch live TV, you have to pay. You can't just ignore the rules because you have some ideological issue with them.

It's got nothing to do with your human rights, 1984 or government conspiracies. You're making use of a service so you have to pay for it to be provided.

i will not pay for a TV license.

i was responding to what he said

Who is 'he'? Seeing as you quoted my post, I assumed you were replying to me.

and yes i dont want to pay it.

But not wanting to pay it doesn't exempt you from the law, does it? Nobody wants to pay tax either, but you can't dodge it just because you object to it.

I never paid for nearly over 20 years had many visits in that time but on the last it nearly come too blows so i give in in the end but i had a good run for my money :)

I don't own a TV I just wish the ****ers would stop sending me threatening letters every Month accusing me of being a heinous criminal for not owning a TV.

I keep meaning to go seek legal advice and see if I can stop the harassment, I know of no other body in this Country who can accuse you of something without any proof whatsoever and bombard you with unwanted, unsolicited and downright threatening junk mail like the TVLicensing, how they've been getting away with this for so many years beggars belief.
