Barring all 'to the internet' jazz;

Just got back in a forgot about this being off, freezing in here and no-one is home for another two days, it's the middle of the night & I've never even bothered looking at the thing till now.

Had a look at a few videos and know pretty much what I've got to do but it's not working :confused:

Turned the knob all the way to MAX and it doesn't light, the button to the right does nothing - assuming this is an electric spark that used to come on gas cookers but it's mostly broke looking at the condition of the thing.

There's small glass window (bottom left) that I've removed, assuming this is where the pilot light should be light, poked matches in there while moving the knob and pressing the button but no luck.

Help :( I R cold.

My boiler doesn't light if there isn't sufficient water pressure. I just need to turn a valve for a few seconds (usually let it get to 2 bar) and then it lights.
Maybe worth looking into?

it would be worth looking into if he had a combi boiler but he doesnt

the white controle is temp, just stick it on full and leave it, that wont light your pilot light

the black controle to the left needs to be set to spark, push it in a little and turn it so the spark picture on the controle knob lines up. once you've done that push it in and keep it there for 30 seconds while at the same time pushing the black sparker in & out, to the right next to the white controle

after 30 seconds leave go slowly, making sure pilot is on, if it is turn the controle knob, line the flame picture up to the mark..

then try your boiler from the timer controles on/off, if the sparker to the right doesnt work use a match or a rolled up peace of paper, like i say the controle knob to the left needs to be set up properly to light the pilot light

Aye depending on the model you may have a specific setting for pilot, and may need to push a particular button in for X seconds before hitting the "light" button/.

Doesn't it have any instructions on the boiler?
Most have them on a label somewhere (on the flap that drops down etc), failing that if you can find a model number/make you can probably find instructions online.

Thats a GlowWorm Hideaway BF boiler, the cover that you removed to expose the controls has a large sticker on it describing how the user should proceed to light the pilot and turn the boiler back on. If any of that doesnt work then get a qualified heating person in :)

Oh and as its a room sealed appliance it would be a real good idea to put that glass back in place ;)

Don't start waving matches in parts of your boiler either if you don't know what you're doing! Seems like a pretty daft thing to do to me!
