Hi

I've recently bought a memory card from the *bay - number: 220520930571

I was wondering what is the best way to test to see if its fake or not? I've done a Google search but I can't find anything relevant to this card to test it out.

Its a Sandisk Extreme III 16gb SDHC class 10

Thanks

When I tested the 3X4GB I bought 2 were fake.

I tested by using a known 'real' extreme card. Lens cap on, Manual focus, RAW, continuous shooting.. I got 8 shots before it started to buffer stopping the next shot. I then timed how long it took until it was ready to fire again. Few seconds..

The fake could only manage 4 RAWS and took a lot longer before it was ready to go again.

Well if your worried about buying fake stuff don't buy from there surely? A proper retailer may be a few pounds more expensive but at least you are 100% sure you know what you are getting.

Wrong!

Some well known retailers have sold fakes before. Mine were not from the bay!

Its class 10 - because that the same as in Jess'.

I guess I'll give sandisk a call to find if its real. But I looks like its got all the correct marks on it so I'm not too worried just want to be 100% sure.

you can email the serials to sandisk and they will tell you

if you search you can also find pictorial guides showing the differences (at least I did for my compact flash ones which turned out to be fake)

got a refund for em
