Most will know if you now order the movie channels Sky are giving you the option to get the HD box free of charge. I'd like to watch some good movies over Christmas and new year but it's to costly for me to have long term.

Dose anyone know how long you have to have the movie channels if you take this offer up with Sky?

I'm guessing but normally these things require a 12 months sub.

I'd contact Sky or look at their website, probably got the info there.

Didn't think you would be tied in to the movie package specifically? Usually you can chop and change the packages on a monthly basis.

The 12 month contract would still stand, but i thought you would be able to take off movies after a month? Could be a different thing now since its an offer though.

EDIT: Looking quickly on the Sky website it says "Free Sky+HD box for new and existing customers joining Sky+HD with Sky Movies from £36 a month for a year" So im guessing you are tied down to having at least movies with it for the first year.

SkyHD is £10/month on top of standard products. So failing movies and sports i think its ~£31 per month.

Yeah hopefully :) Currently i am not even bothering with the HD sub, even though i have an HD box. I just like the much better box, HDMI connection, and you still get the free HD content.

Huh can you do that? How much are you paying then? We're paying £22 a month for everything bar movies and sports on Sky+.

Dont have to take movies at all!its a closer just push them.free sports and movies for the 1st month is another

Do you actually know of anybody who has managed to wangle a free decoder while not agreeing to take a premium package for the whole 12 months?

I'm just on a standard sub, the same as you for the same price :)

Ahh okay. How much would upgrading the box cost then? £40? May have to see about doing this. Would we just phone up and ask for an upgrade but same sub or something?

No, you will be forced to take the HD sub for 12 months if they supply the box at a subsidised rate. You either need to do this, or just buy a box yourself.

I already have SkyTV, Broadband and Talk talk. I'd be paying almost £70 a month to If I went HD and had the movies. It's a bloody rip off. :(

Seems the best place to ask this...

We've got Sky atm, we currently have 1 sky+ box.
We would like to add a Sky HD box and an extra sky+ box.

So in total, 2 sky+ and an HD box whats the best offers floating about at the moment?

We've managed to get a Sky+HD box for free, without taking movies or anything extra. All we've had to pay is £30 installation fee and the extra £10 or however much a month for the HD subscription.
They quoted between 2pm-5pm today for install, but nobody's been yet.
