Shopping for Christmas online has always been a no-go for me as I always get worried that it'll either not arrive on time or it will be damaged during delivery or some such event that would be sure to happen to me.

However, this year, I have found pretty much everything I want to buy on Amazon. (Assuming this is ok now that the competitor rule has been relaxed to only include discussion of products OcUK sell.)

My questions are as follows:

When should I be aiming to have completed the order for to have it delivered by next Friday at the latest if Amazon is the seller for each of the items?

Anyone have any horror stories regarding late Xmas deliveries?

Ever since the Nintendo DS I ordered for the missus 2 weeks before xmas didnt turn up on the doorstep until the 28th Dec, I have never had the cahoonas to do it again.

All cash at the till for me from now on, unless its a biggie and I buy it weeks before from the shop before it goes out of stock. There is always something that she does see and want on TV the day before xmas though

Women huh??

Yeah, I'm getting my Mum jewellery, my Dad a new drill and my sister a few band shirts. Oh, and Red Dwarf - All The Shows for myself. :D

Will be gutted if they don't arrive on time.

I did it a couple of years ago but bought pretty much everything during november/start of december. Was good didn't miss trapsing round shop and queing one bit but you do need to be quite organised and have a pretty good idea of what you are buying for each person. The thing about shops is it's quite nice to pop in for something and get a bunch of other things that you happen to see etc.

Done all of mine online this year, almost all has turned up, just waiting for something from Marks and Spencers and then I'll be done!

I tend to do most of my shopping online and have done for the last couple of years. I always make sure to order stuff in plenty of time though to make sure it all arrives before Christmas. For example, this year my cutoff date was the first of December, after that anything that needs to be bought has to be via a bricks and mortar shop. I know that I'd probably be safe enough making an order today and that it would more than likely be here by Christmas, but I just don't want to take the chance.

Well I'll likely be ordering tomorrow using their Super Saver 3-5 day delivery. Whether it actually arrives in 5 days is another matter. It's Royal Mail they use isn't it?

I'd say about 70% of mine is done online. Just order in time and don't be silly ordering on the last day that they say it will be delivered for xmas. Even so, I DID do that last year on Amazon and everything came.

I ordered something the other day on super saver 3-5 day and got one of the items next day. I have NEVER have anything take more than 5 days. Most come on the third day I find.

I've found that with Amazon Super Saver it usually turns up within 3 days, however Royal Mail have been pretty awful at the moment with my deliveries due to it being Christmas.

I tend to do all mine online, cant be bothered with the queues or parking. I usually pay a bit extra for next day/express delivery, usually save money by shopping online so dont mind paying a few quid more to make sure it arrives on time.

Isn't the social aspect of xmas shopping supposed to be part of the whole 'xmas experience' thing?

Not that I care. I hate xmas. :)

There's nothing I hate more than shopping in the weeks leading up to Xmas. The urge to kick every kid who runs infront of me or woman who suddenly stops to look at a shop window is near uncontrollable.

I always try to shop for presents around November, especially if I am thinking of buying online. I might be missing out on a few deals, but to be honest the amount of bloody aggro shopping during Christmas causes, I just don't care.

I save plenty of money when I buy myself presents during the January Sales :D
