**The Dragon Age Origins Thread **

Honestly the last 4 lines of that don't even make sense. Neither does the first one, since my inclusion of "weak" was merely that you'd meandered away from your original point and started bashing the way in which i was using certain terms.

It's ok, though, we're done here. No matter what twisted logic I apply, I just can't see how 3rd Party Modification to Characters for an advantage is on higher moral ground than using a spell as it was intended... cheesy or otherwise.

I also can't see how having to use the character's default skills "is not part of the game"... because um, it is. That's somewhat the point of them being default, and there not being an option to respec them.

So, given the absence of any ability to comprehend your ludicrous counter-argument, I'm going to strike you off as a lost cause and let the thread continue as it previously was.

Enjoy!

Your inability to comprehend me is your failing not mine.

3rd party doesn't make it 'immoral', nor does 'being put there by the devs' make it 'legit'. Permasins were put in Guild Wars by the devs and they're the most broken build the game has. A trained monkey could complete the game using that build, the MMO equivilent of the Forcefield Tank and Spank.

Either way, i never claimed it was immoral or cheating, you seem to be uanble to understand this and keep adding bits i haven't even said to your 'counter'. I merely said it was broken, your Forcefield Tank and Spank may be using things in the game, that doesn't mean it isn't EZ Mode. Adjustment by characters to use exactly what i want is only making things easier because i don't get stuck with the useless spells/talents that they came with. Full customisation of party members upon gaining them isn't broken, i don't gain more attributes/skills.

Anyway, it seems to be you who is unable to provide a counter-arguement. You began by claiming that 'the respec mod is the girls way out' and have offered nothing but de-railments by claiming i said your strategy is cheating or immoral. I've been sticking to the point that Forcefield Tank and Spank is easy mode using broken mechanics, you claim Respec renders everything easy, yet you use a technique which removes all challenge from the game in fights? Its cute, really.

When you can provide a reason for Respeccing making the game easier than Forcefield abuse, let me know. Otherwise i'll assume its dawned on you you were only derailing because you had no case in the first place.

lol @ respec modding comments. Firstly, finished the game already without any respec mod as intended and now I use them to mod my characters the way I see fit.

Have a look at the Winter Forge addon, a bit clunky but allows you to "build your own gear" as it were.

Will do. I've been biding my time waiting for the whole addon scene to quieten down so I can find a nice 'rebalance' mod for the game.

***IMPORTANT INFO***

Careful guys, doing a Steam Backup of Dragon Age DOES NOT save your save games, characters or DLC. It merely saves you re-dowloading the entire stock game from the servers.

TO BACKUP YOUR SAVE GAMES, YOU MUST COPY THE FOLDER FROM MY DOCUMENTS

Username > Documents > BioWare > Dragon Age

Copying this into the same location (overwrite everything) after a fresh install will reinstate ALL progress, including Screenshots, Achievements, Savegames (inc Auto and Quicksaves) and everything else.

Glad i'd spotted that folder before i reformatted today.

Also, the Blood Dragon Armour looks terrible :/

Glad i only had to wear it for 30 minutes until I'd gathered all teh Juggernaut stuff instead.

Yeah I know. Is it me or does the Blood Dragon Armour look like low res textures are used on it? Cosmetics wise my fave armour is the Gray Warden Heavy armour you get from Soldiers Peak.

If you cast the Forcefield on Shale in the first place you are clearly part of the battle. Either way a spell that completely blocks all damage/spell effects should cause the enemies to not waste all there stamina/mana on it. If you can only complete the game using broken mechanics then i'm not surprised you need Forcefield abuse to be successful

To be fair, if Shale is running the taunt aura it is no different from the add's hitting him and not switching without the forcefield on

Just finished my first playthough, wow what a game :o
I think i played it as the best class first time through though (mage)
Might try it as a warrior as Zefran's banter is too funny not to include

Yeah it's covered in Jaggies like you've got no AA on, but they're drawn into the texture. Really weird.

My favourite aesthetically is what I've got equipped:

Again, seems silly that rogues can equip full plate, but i wont complain :)

Dwarves in Blood Dragon = win. Mini Robocop...

Saying that though my Mage was using Helm of the Deep for the entire game and seriously, it just looked ridiculous when my character was still wearing it during the Morrigan Romance scene :D

I thought it was common knowledge that they uploaded a load of low res textures by mistake. The low res were for XBox and they had hi res for the PC. It should be sorted soon though?

I loved the Grey Warden armor too. Interestingly, you can sell it to the merchant at camp and leave, come back and buy it back off him again and it'll upgrade to a tier reflecting your level. Handy if you picked it up early at tier 4 like I did.

Really? Awesome, best part of this thread so far! Thanks :D

Yeah you can do that for a few named items. Note the word 'few'. It works for the Scout's Bow so its handy for keeping a Rapid Aim Shortbow upto scratch. I think Austurians Might (sp?) works too.

High Dragon vs 3 2 Handed Berserkers, unfortunately Oghren caught a temporary case of death when it had about 5% left
