Any weapon can be used 2 handed, as it give more power/dmg, its a trade of though with you taking more dmg if hit, also the higher your str can allow you to use 2 handed weapons as 1 handers.

I'm really wanting this now, it was the reason I was going to buy a PS3, but seeing as I bought one I'm really wanting to get it :D.

is their any difference in getting the JP version over the NA version? any differences? downsides?

also where is the best deal in stock at the moment?

Speaking of 2h sword, saw I can get the "Great Sword" in 1-3 (an area which I unlocked last night). What do we think of that one?

Good sword but you'll need to be strong to weild it. It's not really about the sword (except the special ones) it's more to do with what stones you upgrade them with. The hard to find stones usually give you the most damage/effects.

I brought the asain version from ebay for £38, and then sold it 3 months later for £38. I will be buying the US version after christmas because I miss the game.
As for differences, the US version will have an english manual and as it was released in October I would think it has a more vibrant community. Apart from that I'm pretty sure their identical.

Best game I've played this generation on any console, really isn't anything like it.

Dunno if this has been asked but:...

I bought the HK region game, played through and earned a fair few trophies. If I was to buy the US version, would I re-earn these trophies, thus allowing me to potentially platinum the game twice? (Didn't plat the first anyway) :p.

I have tried comparing trophies with someone who has the Asian copy and they show up as two separate games, so I think you could potentially platinum it twice, but (iirc) the save games aren't compatible, so you'd have to do all the work twice as well.

Totally new to this game, cant find the "Maiden in black" to upgrade stats with my souls ?? where is she?

She's in the Nexus (where stockpile Thomas etc are). You might have to look a bit for her, and she won't talk to you until you have beaten the first level.

It turns out that she doesnt even appear until you kill the first demon. Ive just now killed the first demon and now have access to her, at last.

Took the plunge and ordered this yesterday from Videogamesplus, hopefully will be here in a week or so. Is Royal the best class to start as or does it depend on what kind of character you want to be (melee, ranged, etc)?

Edit: Just how hard is it as well? I can breeze through Ninja Gaiden on both Normal and Hard difficulty, and go through Expert as well (more of a challenge though), so how does it stack up against that?

The Royal starts as Soul level one, with Magic (Soul Arrow) and a few nice items such as a Mana regain ring. As they start at Soul Level 1 they will be a little weaker but it also means it's cheaper to level up at the start, you should be able to turn them into almost anything you want.

If you start with any class that has light armor and small shield / buckler (like the Royal) you will need to learn to dodge quite well as you really can't take hits. The massive bonus I found with starting as a Temple Knight or Knight is that you start with decent armor and a larger kite or heater shield, on the first stage (1-1) you can fully block most of the damage and won’t die in one hit which makes it less frustrating in smaller spaces or going up against more than 1 enemy.

Any starting class can end up being melee / ranged or magic, the game has enough Soul levels to adapt into anything you want. Once you understand the basics of how the combat system works it’s then a lot easier to play a class like the thief etc through the first few stages.

How long did it take you to get the Pure Bladestone?

It took me 47 attempts which from what I've read is pretty lucky :)

I have no idea, I was spending the souls as I went along and pushed through about 20 levels so I'd say about that number, maybe a bit more.

Demon's Souls is amazing. It's probably the best I've played since FF VII, and that's saying a hell of a lot. It's exactly what we need to see more of in today's watered-down for-the-masses industry. It's challenging, rewarding, and fair. I actually struggled through work all this week because I just kept thinking about what to do next, where to go. Your mind just races off and goes for miles. There aren't enough superlatives to describe this monster of a game.

Got this as my first game for my new PS3 Slim (US version), its fantastic and frustrating at the same time. Start as a royal and working my way to a magic warrior style build.

Spent ages grinding souls and mats to get a crescent weapon, not find any darkmoonstones yet tho :(

After a frustrating start with dying a fair few times and losing around 6k souls (which is a lot early on I think), I'm definitely starting to get the hang of this now. I've faced the 1-1 and 2-1 bosses and killed them both first time, and also killed the Red Dragon in 1-2, and the Red Eyed Knight in 1-1, all without any real trouble. In fact, the only problems I get now are when I get jumped by multiple enemies unexpectedly (like dogs, I bloody hate them!).

Really starting to enjoy it now as well. Got a lovely Compound Short Bow +3 which I want to build up to +7 so I can turn it into a Lava Bow. Building up a Scimitar as well, though I may look for something different as I'm not sure it's the best weapon I could be using.

Can't wait to get home and put more time into it now :D
