"People with the North American version will be on separate servers, and not able to interact with people playing other versions"

Can anyone confirm this to be true? I am getting the US version, so if anyone else with the same wants to try some co-op over the festive period, get in touch!

Yes it is.

Co-op can be tricky to arrange with specific people, you need to arrange outside the game where to lay your blue soul stone so you get summoned by the right person.

It looks like all World Tendency has been set to White for the Christmas period (until Dec 28th). I Went through my current game last night and picked up 4 weapons and a few armor sets.

Had this game for about 6 weeks now and not got round to start playing it yet .
Now is the perfect time over the christmas holiday to really sink my teeth into it .
I have yet to read through this thread because didnt want to ruin it with spoilers so can someone tell me whats this white weekend all about ?
and Will it be best for me to start now or shall i leave it till it has finished

Turning a world white or black will spawn NPC's and clear blocked paths to loot. It also changes the difficulty of enemies (easier in white / harder in black). In my current game i only have the last boss left to do so i can't comment on how much easier the enemies are, from the little i did last night to get the items i wanted i really didn't notice that much of a change in the difficulty.

If you are just starting the game i really don't think it will make a great deal of difference to be honest, if you progress a lot before the 28th you might be able to pick up a few nice items. You can always disconnect your PS3 from the net while you play as the worlds will only change after you have logged into the game server.

I can't confirm it but i think the Dragon's are removed from the first world when its white, it might spoil the first stage a little as the parts with the red Dragon are great!

ok thanks for letting us know about that i will start after the 28th then now ;)

Also just got borderlands as well so looks like it might be a bit longer now till i start it .

I would strongly strongly recommend you do all the white tendency events before the 28th is over, as it is extremely hard to get white tendency properly. It basically involves killing all the bosses in the relevant world without dying once - so if you do die, that's it, you've fluffed it and must beat the game to try again in new game +. There are other ways of getting white tendency but they rely on you being a good blue phantom and also not dying ;)

It's normal for new players not to worry about tendency events on the first playthrough. It's advanced stuff that most guys don't worry about until they've beaten the game and gotten the hang of everything. But you really must get the events done before it's over - it may be your only chance for a long time. Pressure's on you.

edit: and stop playing inferior games before this one! Demon's Souls is recognized as one of the best, if not the best game on the PS3. Playing games like Borderlands and whatever before is really plain stupid. Just because this game isn't out in Europe and thus isn't getting a lot of recognition doesn't mean it's some obscure gimmicky game. It's as good as they come, and I dare bet it sold a hell of a lot more imports than actual European releases.

Borderlands doesn't even deserve to be mentioned in the same paragraph as Demon's Souls.

Ok i take it you must have enjoyed it , but like you said yourself its for the hardcore who have been through the game already .
It might be easier for me now to do these white areas but im not one for trying to rush through and do everything first time .
I didnt compare borderlands i just said i might be on it a lot but co-op is running bad for me and the voice comms are pretty dire at mo .

If i have the time today when i get back i will start it hopefully ;)

My copy of Demons Souls didn't arrive in time for Christmas :(
Was really looking forward to some long gaming sessions over the break, but the weather cancelled a lot of international flights, delaying my import copy by a few days I guess :( :(

Started it tonight and so far im really impressed by it all , i like the movement and button layout really feels fluid and smooth .

Cannot wait until tomorrow once i have a few hours spare i will be on this for sure :D

My wife ordered this and GoW Collection for my Christmas - still waiting on this one arriving. Can't wait to get my hands on it finally

so looking at some vids on youtube to me the game seems very slow and cold

if you were to compare this to say diablo or final fantasy, what would the differences be?

is there a leveling system?

It's nothing like either of them. It's very unique and I can't think of any other games to compare it to. The combat vaguely resembles the later Legend of Zelda games, while the levelling is a play on standard RPG fare - you collect souls which goes towards levelling individual stats up. The more stats you level up, the more expensive each stat point will be in terms of souls - but the kicker is, you have to spend your souls at a particular person which means coming back to the main central hub without dying - something you will do a lot. The game absolutely does not want you to do anything that may be beneficial to you. :)

I really can't get into this at all, think I'll stick it up for sale as there's a pretty good second-hand market for them here.

I just finished my first playthrough.

Done most things i could possibly do in a single playthrough, all white/black world tendencies and collected all the purestones. Still have to collect the last few rings, the millions of spells and miracles i haven't got. Collect all unique weapons and use all the stones i collected to craft a fully upgraded weapon of each stone.. So much still to do!

I must say that the game is very very good! Except for the swamp in the valley of defilement and the trolls that inhabit it. I hate them!
