*** Official Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 Thread***

Hey guys I'm hoping someone can help me here.

I have my own version of MW2 on steam and my GF has her own steam and her own MW2. We both use my Virgin 50mb broadband. However when we both play MW2 we get huge lag spikes and constant disconnects. Is this a known issue or is there anyway I can stop this so we can both play at the same time?

havent seen an aimbotter or wall hacker yet, played for around 30 hrs, so probs about 20 hours actually playing the game. However, I have been accused of cheating on pretty much every server i have played on. One of the benifits of IWnet is that some 12 yr old kid or OAP cant ban you from their server because they are poor at the game.

This is another reason why the P2P system is crap... especially if one of you is "hosting" it will choke the connection out for the other... turning off UPnP on the router and making sure NAT is locked down will force the game to semi behave - tho you might sometimes get kicked by the lobby system... but it might not entirely sort the lag... changing cl_maxpackets, snaps and rate in the config file manually (gg removing console IW) may help as well - if cl_maxpackets is in there change it to 62 or add seta cl_maxpackets "62" for each client - path is something like:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\call of duty modern warfare 2\players\config_mp.cfg


I'm not entirely sure if maxpackets is still working - knowing IW they've prolly "removed" it which is madness as its based on the quake 3/idtech3 architecture its an essential tweak to get optimal performance on all connection types.
 
Hmm just realised thats probably why the game lags out completely for everyone else when I'm made the host (which I've now prevented from happening) because I've tweaked certain network settings via the config... gg IW again... you'd have thought by now they've have gotten their heads around the ins and outs of the idtech3 engine.

They are different playing styles... MW2 you can jump around almost like quake 3 in a firefight... COD4 stick your head out without thinking and it'll instantly get sniped off.
 
think ill stick with the 1st one then. also im getting narked with the matchmaking system. it didnt bother me at first but slowly its grating on me. would have been nice to have dedis with server options such as no choppers etc.

anyway not long to go till bfbc2 hopefully that will be the next online fps of choice.
 
This game could have been so much better than COD4, its just so "nearly perfect", hammered it for 30 hours now, the maps are excellent, the graphics are tasty. But it isnt, I'm sick of seeing kill cams where I die from a bullet that was 2 feet away from me. This is more of an arcade COD, COD4 is more serious with precision therefore still better.
 
Seems to be more hackers on now than ever.

Seen loads of Nukes today, after only seeing one in 50 hours of playing.

They all insist they are clean, but the kill cams give them away, it's just so obivious.

This and the stupidly over powered akimbo 1887 shot guns are spoiling the game
 
Saw a hilarious one today... someone has some kinda bot that lets them spawn clones of themselves which follow each other in a line like lemmings...
 
it is ridiculous

the game is called MODERN WARFARE yet the most overpowered weapons in the game are a simple knife and a pair of shotguns from the 19th century :rolleyes:

im around 20k from 70 once i reach it will probably stop playing

lol dont know why i carried on playing to reach 70 tbh
 
only downside to knife is it seems to favor laggers... so many times I've had people warp through everything I can throw at them and knife me...

I'm yet to run into anyone with dual shotties who can beat me tho... my n00btube so far comes out on top.

He didn't, but I have had it happen to me. I guess it's my bad way of pointing out that most 'normal' people can tell the difference between an aimbot auto aiming and a good player aiming. By normal, I mean anyone who doesn't sit there and call anyone who's better than them a cheat.
