i7 shown as 8 cores?

in task manager it is in 8 separate graphs, why is that?

It means each core shows up as two and can have two threads assigned to it. For a more detailed explanation you could just read up on it on Wikipedia. ;)

im going to use the PC for gaming, watching some blu ray stuff and maby some ripping dvds.
i like the lian li cases but they are quite a lot of money and i personally like the look of the antec 1200

Physically, there are four cores plus four logical cores.

You are only looking at this from a gaming perspective. Mutli threaded applications will benefit from the extra cores especially server and video applications. The more data that runs in parallel the less need for all out raw speed on a sinlge cores. As these cores also become programmable, this gives the developer options in how his application behaves in terms of performance. It's all good stuff.
