Not sure where this should go, so im sticking it here.

Long story short I dropped my mates i7 pc I was cleaning up

Now it won't boot at all, I have swapped out as much I can with my parts, but not having spare i7 gear I can't test it all. Seems like the Mobo

I spoke to directline and they said I could claim for the board just need to give them a quote. Or the whole PC. They said they have a company but they don't repair PC's.

I don't want to just claim for the board and find out it was something else.

What im wondering is has anyone ever claimed on their insurance for a PC that they built.

if he has accedental damage on his house it should come under that,i dropped my wifes laptop once they said to get a quote to repair but the guy in shop wrote a letter stating its nacked and will need a replacement,so in theroy it should come under that section.

ps you might need to take a pic if they ask for prove which we had to do and was fairly straight forward process, bear in mind his contents premuim will go up a tad tho.

That is why I am thinking of doing it on mine. As I dropped it at my house.

They said I would lose my discount, which isn't to bad.

They said they have a company they use if I go the whole PC route, but they wont repair it just replace my the sounds.

If I cant work out what's wrong I may see if they will replace the core parts. Should cover most bases that way.

aye your ok then if you dont mind losing on the discount still be cheaper than having to pay for your mates pc to be replaced,i know of people who drop there lcd tv's "wink wink" of the wall and claim for a new one, from what i was told you get three claims a year anymore they send out the swat team.

Yer I would rather not claim at all. Been racking up a nice no claims discount.

Going to speak to the misses tonight and see what she says. Going to be in the dog house

I hope you've thanked those people you know for the increased insurance premiums you (and the rest of us) are paying as a result of their "wink wink" accidents.

o yes i have and given my two pennies worth as well, not a beliver in doing it myself but if it was an accident then its fair play as you pay for that added protection.

Yer I paid extra for accidental damage to cover me from the kids. Last claim was 5 years ago when my little boy posted pennies in the DVD player

Never thought it would be me doing something stupid.

Will see what happens.
