for those of you who keep your bread in the fridge

So why do they always supply egg trays then?

Public opinion, people ant to keep eggs in the fridge so they are supplied, there is no reason for it.

Add peanut butter to that list.

you what people do that

All fine apart from the mayo, it'll be fine (even if opened) out of the fridge but once you start dipping spoons, knives etc in and dropping crumbs of perishable food in it, it soon goes off.

Nope it's fine.

I've never even considered putting bread in the fridge.

We go through about two loaves per day in my house. :D

People preferring bread in the fridge is just like people preferring room temperature chocolate over cold chocolate ;)

(stands back and watches argument).

I keep mine in the microwave - a perfect breadbin without having to have a breadbin ;) Just don't turn it on eh...

The key to keeping bread fresh isn't the temperature. It's the elimination of as much air as possible from the bag containing the bread.

And have you noticed how the 'fresh' supermarket-baked bread goes off far more quickly than the factory-baked and wrapped bread. It's because the supermarket-baked bread is sold in clear plastic bags that have thousands of perforations in them - something to do with letting out the moisture as the bread cools down.

When Mayo and Ketchup say keep refigerated after opening they are telling lies.

yep just like use by dates. They are guidelines only and have no real purpose. Millions of people keep ketchup in the cupboard and how many have gotten ill form it? So much sugar and vinegar in it, I have never even seen it go mouldy.

lol who puts their bread in the fridge, I guess they're the same people that keep their sauce in the cupboard and eat hot weetabix.

Bread in the fridge or cupboard who cares. Its so packed with salt/preservatives I really doubt it matters that much.

Peanut butter and ketchup (its gotta be Heinz) in the cupboard. Cold peanut butter is just wrong.

And how come milk now stays fresh in the fridge for like a week or more past its sell by date? I don't remember that being the case when I were a lad. Didn't seem to last more than a few days.

But what if I like my mayo cold? :(
