for those of you who keep your bread in the fridge

In my house bread doesn't have time to go stale as it lasts a couple of days before theres just 2 crusts at the bottom. It is horrible chilled, room temp for the win. Plus there is never any room in my fridge for bread.

I buy pitta breads.

Put them all in the freezer after buying.

When want to eat, just pop into toaster, 1 min and its ready to eat :)

people keep bread in the fridge?? whats wrong with you!!! :/

fair enough freezing bread for a rainy day and all, but keeping it cold... dudes, bread bins are for a reason !!

Or just don't eat bread, simples. Fresh bread goes off within 24hrs anyway, all mass produced breads have preservatives and other regulators/emulsifiers and acidit regulators and what not mixed into it's inferior flour/dough anyway.

But I like bread. :o

I normally get two small loaves of bread to last me the week.

The first is normally a fresh loaf which I'll have Saturday-Tuesday which isn;t kept in the fridge. The second is a pre-packaged loaf which I'll have the rest of the week and that will be kept in the fridge to stop it getting mouldy.

So what if the bread is cold ... during the week I either have it as toast or for lunch at work which means it's warmed up by then.

If bread in your fridge is going stodgy then you are doing it wrong as I've never had that issue ...

if anything it should become dry like if you put a sponge birthday cake in the fridge all the moisure will be sucked out of it because well thats what modern fridges do

Oh absolutely, me too. However, I like "real" bread, i.e. no preservatives, additives etc... good wholesome bread. Unfortunately such bread doesn't last very long. If I were still living in France I'd be having a baguette every day! Love the stuff! :D

You should just freeze it. The outcome of either operation above will be the same.

The cold dense air jut makes it terrible. Gooey/stodgy. This Warburtons Taostie bread. (orange)

I don't eat much bread, but we can go through 2/3 loaves a week. There's no room in our fridge for bread co it is full of things the NEED refrigerated.

Oh, and cold ketchup is rank. Cold mayo is the way forward.

Ive always been a fan of room temp bread, tbh ive never tried frozen bread or wutever you call it.

You must have lost a slice or two if you keep it in the fridge. :p

Frozen bread in the freezer and all other bread in the bread bin.
