rage against the x-factor - Outcome: RATM is the Christmas Number One!

How many people believed in this cause until someone told them too ;).

Thousands. Just because you didn't doesn't mean we were happy with xfactor or its domination of the christmas charts. Someone provided an option, an alternative, a solution. That's how ideas happen.

So by your definition the people buying the X-Factor single are not sheep??

Easily led fools. People aren't following the group, they're agreeing with it. It's like saying that people who are opposed to rape are just following a trend, of course they're not, they just also have a similar opinion.

Free thinking individuals that a few weeks ago wouldn't have cared? The same free thinking individuals that are buying the song cause some fella on Facebook is telling them too?

Yes, definetly not sheep :p.

What's even more laughable than the ignorance displayed by people who watch/support x-factor, is comments like this.

Little tip, for most of us (unlike you it seems) there is a difference between making a choice based on information available to you and midless, reactionary behaviour. Perhaps you should get off your tower and actually consider the argument for it's merits rather than trying (and failing) to convince everyone how 'smart' you are. :p

It's funny that someone has already edited RATM into NUmber 1.

Also, things basically started going downhill in 1993, didn't they? And with the exception of Mad World, each entry has been some rubbish manufactured group since 1996.

Just had a quick look at that list, I don't particularly like older music (only 22) but there's no denying that the music over the last 15 years is just tragic, before then there's some good songs, where did they go :(

Leon Jackson? Robbie Williams and Nicole Kidman? Shayne Ward? Westlife? Alexandra Burke? I despair, don't we deserve better :(

It'd be interesting to know how many people would buy this Miley Cyrus cover had he not been on X-Factor, I'd estimate it at about 4. In fact, if he even tried to bring this idea to a record label they'd probably laugh at his face

I don't watch the X-Factor and never have, and it seems to be most of you "protestors" sat atop the tower. I don't intend on buying either single and am quite enjoying watching from the sidelines.

I've considered the arguement for its merits and I happen to disagree with what it stands for. I just find it hillarious how many people are getting worked up over something so trivial and getting angry whenever someone points out flaws in their little quest for musical justice.

I'm sorry if you see my posts as threatening, and i'm certainly not trying to be "clever". I just felt like adding my two cents. Reading through the thread though I can see a fair few of you are hostile toward anyone who doesn't agree with your views.

This I agree with, but you have to admit there are huge similarities between your cause and the whole X-Factor buying rush. At the end of the day you're all bowing to the whim of one person, the person that has organised it.

We won't know until the chart is announced on Sunday.

At the moment, RATM is #1 on Play.com, and HMV but #2 on iTunes.

Some of us do.

Official mid week standings are:

1 83276 >999 KILLING IN THE NAME RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE
NEW 2 77401 THE CLIMB JOE MCELDERRY

This is before the CD is released in shops though which will probably bump it to No.1.

So basically you're a troll.

Yawn :o. If you can't find something productive to say don't bother replying.

"Oh noes, a different opinion, he must be here to wind me up".

It's not just disagreement though, what he quoted very heavily implies you're posting just to garner amusement from the reaction - the very definition of trolling.

I'm sorry that I find people reactions to discussion hillarious. As I've said before, it seems anyone who disagrees with you is met with hostility.

I'm trying to find out why you all care so much about this when two weeks ago this would have likely had no effect on your lives at all. But hey, I'm obviously in the wrong here for actually asking a question.

I honestly don't know why i'm posting this reply as no doubt Sawell will pop up again and say "Troll" (what wit!) and you'll all agree with him.

If you'll excuse me i'm off to spend about £50 on X-Factor CD Singles because I love the show so very very much ;).

most xfactor singles are probably bought by people who dont know any better as gifts.

i wonder how many get returned to the stores after christmas
