1gb 4870 to a 5850 1gb - scope for crossfire later (worth it ?)

game at 1650x1050 (22") whatever it is.

I dont play ANY dx 11 games and as of yet doubt i will either.

Mostly playing MW2 L4d2 EQ2 and the odd bits and bobs.

Ive never done an upgrade where i haven't thought. wow ! thats nice

so is this one even worth it ?? assuming i can sell the 4870 for 70 or so quid ofc.

My mind says this isnt worth it - but my innergeek wallet says go for it.

Keep the 4870 for a bit longer.

at that res i'd say no. you wouldn't seen any real difference in performance.

Cooler running, lower power would probably be the only difference you'd see.

that you may but most game would already be hitting 60+ fps anyway which is why i said he wouldn't notice any performance difference.

but the answer is really up to you.
Do you want it?
Can you afford it?
Does it really matter just buy it

what games do you play if i may enquire ?

Stuff like Crysis, GTA IV, Dirt2, MW2, farCry2, Dirt, Grid, Shift, and a few others ive only got on now.

I know couple of those rely on a beefy CPU as well, but even in those the 5850 still gave a boost over the 4870, even faster at higher settings.

EDIT: Just noticed the Sapphires have been dropped in price, id grab one

i have a sapphire 5850 and its very good in dirt 2 mw2 ( which i have uninstalled due to steam deciding it wants to crash) and crysis , i havn't overclocked it yet and if the price goes to £200 i will buy another one ! Go for it m8y

i would wait till they drop to under £180ish if nvidia plays there cards right they might have reason to lower the price personally i will wait till march and review my 3d card and hhopfully a new mobo cpu and ram
