I have been reading around a little off the back of question a friend asked and was wondering if I am right in thinking that the 335i/d (specifically) SE is actually the same car underneath as the M-Sport bar the exterior trim (Kit/Wheels)?

I cant seem to find a definitive answer.

So is the only real difference the body kit on the outside and the name on the V5?

No, interior trim differences as well - M Sport gets anthracite headlining, M branded door entry strips, etc. Also the exterior difference is the wheels, bodykit, dechrome on the windows.

Isn't most of that little badges and bits that could be added later?

As in if you were to be buying a 335i/d getting an SE and saving the premium it costs for an M Sport isn't such a bad thing bearing in mind you've got the good seats and sports suspension?

If I was to do a lot of motorway miles I would have the SE for the softer ride as it does not have as lower profile tyres as the M Sport, but the M Sport is much nicer for everything else imo thats why I paid the extra. (I really don't like the chrome trim on the SE)

you can probably get all the options that are on the M pack seperately on an SE anyway, such as de-chrome
