I would disagree. Frankly it you're bringing the thread down single-handedly, with such comments as posted above - most of that simply wasn't neccessary.

Anyway, just because you have the money doesn't mean you have to spend it. You could save it and/or use it for something that bears more of a relation to real life than a computer, especially spending £7-800 on graphics cards.

Also what's so wrong with the Phenom systems? They're cheaper and perform less in correspondence with their price compared to the i7 varient.

Do you say the same about someone owning an i5 system?

Yes, I can read thank you. But how was anyone to know that you got your second 295 free? Value wise, it is £700-800 worth of cards.

The difference between you and the so-called 'ATI fanboys' is that they produce fairly detailed arguments, reasoning and don't just revert to name calling and insulting others.

And just because you can spend more money, it doen't make you a better individual - as you've proved.

How I got my 2nd 295 Wither it was paid for or 'free' ? It matters nothing. Value matters not a jot either. I have no doubt ATI fanboys can give detailed arguments, reasoning and dont just revert to name calling and insulting others, but in this thread those miraculous claims have fell flat on their face. I am open to an apology though if those that have called me names would like to. That should back up your claims that ATI fanboys dont just call people names, insult and give reasonable arguments.
 
No apology here. You're an obvious troll and clown. I'm not an ATI fanboy as I've had pretty much every single nvidia GPU past the 7900 series excluding the GTX 295 and enjoyed every one.

Now welcome to my ignore list.
 
Back on topic. Reading the early remarks about the FERMI chipset, it does seem that the CUDA folks are *massively* happy with the improvements that have been made, andit has addresses some major issues with the use of NV cards in this respect. Whether that'll have beneficial impacts on the performance of the cards for gaming is another matter (in fact I can think at least one situation where it is more likely to be the opposite).

...the alternative being that they say "Yeah! These numbers are real. just wait for our great cards!", and then when the cards actually get released and people realise they're not as great as the numbers suggested, they go and buy the ATI cards anyway only this time with a bad taste in their mouth as regards to nVidia's dishonesty.

Just to be clear, I don't particularly favour one brand over the other. I've had roughly equal numbers of both over the years. This time round I'd been planning to wait for these nVidia cards but gave up because of the endless delays.
