rage against the x-factor - Outcome: RATM is the Christmas Number One!

Because it's already happened before...

(Link to relevant news article posted earlier in the thread).
The case in which a track was disqualified from the singles chart involved a relatively small number of people purchasing literally hundreds of copies of the track.

The Official UK Charts Company has no objection to fans purchasing multiple copies of singles to show their support for an artist, as long as the number of purchases is reasonable. Six is fine, five hundred is not.

On every online top sellers list, RATM is number 1!

If we have number 1 on itunes, which we have, then i have a feeling our war could be coming to a victorious victory. So the cd's are coming out, so what? Imagine how many sales over xfactor we have on other digital download sites excluding iTunes.

I know its only a bit of fun but this would actually make my year if we actually managed to get them to number 1 :)

It's because you have been absorbed into the team. Team mentality wins. It's why you get football holligans. Everyone can't understand them, but untill you are in the team you wouldn't.

No. Its nothing to do with that. RATM are one of my favourite bands, i would love it if they got to number one. Do you deliberately try to bait people?

Its true that this is mob mentality in action, but surely if it can get RATM to number one for Christmas it'd be fun a fun thing to do at very least.

Just bought it for a 3rd time today from different outlets :)

I was actually trying to be on our side. I've bought it twice. It is mob-mentality and you have joined our forces. No way would you have bought this if it wasn't for it being organised.

Until we start beating up the x factor buyers, I'm going to respectfully contend that this is nothing whatsoever like football hooliganism.

Sorry i read it that you were saying the only reason i was happy was because i was part of a mob.

Plus the story is at the top of the most popular stories chart on BBC news. Whatever happens from here on in, the message has certainly got out!

In some ways this is all quite encouraging. It demonstrates that even in today's morally and politically anaemic world, people are still willing to stand up and proactively send the message out that we are not happy with what certain individuals in positions of power are doing to our culture. I'm sure many will laugh at me for saying that, but, I find it mildly hopeful!
