I dont know if anyone can diagnose this but it seems to me it's a duff graphics card. And what is more annoying is that with in 20 secs of booting the computer up i was having errors with windows 7 - it obviously had not been tested before release.

The real main problem is graphical issue when i turn the comp on i have 2 long thick black lines down the middle of the screen and nearly everything is jumpled up. I can barely read the installation instructions to reinstall windows.
I have formatted, create a new partition and tried putting new drivers on just incase they were corrupt, but i cant get that far as i can't make anything out.

The second issue im having is when i actually reinstall win 7 i get to create username & pass which i wrote down on the second occasion- but it keeps telling me its the wrong pass and username, it's so strange!

Anyone have any ideas with what i could try? or is it a fried graphics card. Either way im definitely calling them tomorrow.

Have you opened up the machine and repositioned the gfx card and made sure all connections into the card are secure?

While you're in there check all other connections and hardware fittings - as transit can cause connections/hardware to become loose.

Yes checked everything even too kthe card out and put it back in and doing the same thing

You could try loading optimised defaults in the BIOS (or similar) and see if you get any improvement - especially with regard to your Win 7 problems (perhaps try an install with defaults loaded). You should have a profile saved within the BIOS called OcUK or similar so restoring your settings shouldn't be a problem. (Ideally you would clear the CMOS and test - but you may lose your OcUK Clocked profile - a post in the customer services forum would help with this)

But, your best bet is posting in the customer service forum as someone there will be in a far better position to advise you.

Additional: Have you tried a different VGA/DVI cable?

It could be specific to the card and Windows 7..

Ive recently installed Win 7 on a 7900GT and ended up having to clock the card by 5Mhz to stop it giving wavy lines all over.. Shouldn't imagine ud get that problem on a 4980 tho..

Google ur problem. e.g ati radeon 4980 windows 7 'black lines' or whatever.

I will definitely give that a try tomorrow im sure that may eleviate my possible win 7 problem. But as for the graphics card im convinced it's hardware i can find a reasonable explanation to cause this.
My vga cable works perfect on my pc so unfortunately it's not that either :(
