Brother wants an orange Focus ST-3, 10-11k ish

i mean its the 2.7l V6 as well so its no slouch :D

The V6 is even more fail, it's a couple of hp more than the 2l and makes a tad more noise but it drinks like an irishman and costs several £k more :(

And it is a slouch. It's painfully slow. It looks like it should shift some but when you put your foot down it's all noise and no action :(

An old workmate has one, but a 1.6 - now THATS slow. She's convinced it's quick though.

In fairness, for her it was a good choice - she wanted something pretty and a bit different so it worked quite well for her, but a hot hatch ST contender it aint

having actually re-read due to the fact your bro is so stubborn and doesnt listen

just let him ***** his money off its not that you havent tried helping his save money or

buy something cheaper in the long run so you dont have to feel guilty :D

but i would like to know apart from the the badge what wrong with the hyundai fox?

i mean its the 2.7l V6 as well so its no slouch :D

The 2.7 V6 puts out an appallingly crap amount of grunt (circa 170bhp), the handling isn't great, the quality of the fit and finish is terrible, the fuel consumption is rubbish, the image is bad... Do I need to go on.

Seems like a 'pull random car name out of hat thread'.

May I suggest a Volvo T5, or maybe waiting until he can afford to run and actually insure a car.

Try reading the OP again. He has the money to do the costs and insurance of something like an ST, which is no insignificant amount, but he obviously does not have 14k for something like an E46 M3/Evo/Scoob and another 6k for the insurance.

The "normal" Megane 225 is utter crap. The cup is a bit better, the trophy is a bit better than that and the F1 R26 is meant to be awesome.

The Cup is the Trophy (The latter was used as the test bed for the cup chassis). The R26 is indeed better , however the diff makes it VERY twitchy on any surface that isn't perfectly smooth (A Trophy is actually better in this respect). Being a Renault they also suffer from the typical electrical gremlins (The R26 can suffer from coil pack issues).

Personally, I would try out all of the normal hot hatches and buy the one that I prefer. The budget means pretty much every option is available.

I meant to say that his sanity needs a check, which it does to pay a nigh on 1/3 the car cost for insurance over the first year.

But it's his money, so he can obviously feed those nice profits at the insurance company if it gives him the pleasure :)

These threads crack me up, best thing for him to do is take on board opionins but acctually go out and test drive them. He may want a Focus, drive a VXR and prefer it.

what bearing does his ethnicity have on this?

... ?

What?

I believe that lol Matt82 was alluding to the use of the word 'brother' as a reference to a black man. Made me snort a bit actually.

OP - I'm sure your 'brother' would love the Focus ST and, as mentioned above, other worthies to test drive include the A3 and Golf MkV GTi.
