Would you allow someone to die for 500k?

I'd probably stop after 20 or so presses, no real benefit to me after that, i could be independantly wealthy living a reasonable lifestyle and have no consequences.

As long as it was a random death possibility and not precontrived to kill my friends and relatives.

Yeah good point but for every one of you with morals and a conscience there are a 100 that would push the button and couldn't care two hoots if you die.

Morals are great and I can't knock people with them but you soon learn that they don't actually change anything.

I would push the button in an instant and wouldn't think twice about it unless it was my daughter that died.
 
Interesting thought, how long would humanity last if everyone was given a mobile with this button on and could press it as many times as they like?

I might do, provided it was not a child and wouldnt be a member of my family, that is probably unlikely though, getting assurances from such a person with a "button" like this :p

Reminded me of 'one death is a tragedy, a million is a statistic'.

Just by being born in the west, we essentially all press the button. Our quality of living of way above the global average. We are rich compared to the average. The majority of morals people talk about only apply locally, ie in the uk. If it isn't happening as an obvious direct result of a persons actions then they aren't interested. Over a billion people don't have access to safe drinking water, yet we in a country of 60 million complain when their is a hosepipe ban.

I'm not sure if this post achieves anything and I am hypocritical in pointing it out as I consume just as much as anyone else in this country.

As much as I'd want to take 500k, I don't think I would feel right about knowing that I've taken a life.


So my answer is No.
 
500k and living knowing you could have prevented a death, or normal life.

Easy the answer is no, regardless of the sum of money involved.
