DSRL Book for newbie

Hi there, I've got the missus a dslr for christmas but wanted a a decent book to help her get the most out of it. Are there any that you experts would recommend?

I have one of the Blue Crane books for my Canon 20D. Very good books.

I was in the same boat recently and was advised to get a copy of Understanding Exposure by Bryan Peterson - it's a fantastic book that i'm sure would be very helpful

Couldn't agree more, great book and really shows you some good examples. Good for explaining the "why" behind it as well so you know the reasons to do something - great read.

Other book i got was a digital field guide for my 40D (well it came with it) which is really good as well but a bit more specialised than just a general read!

like everyone else, i can recommend Understanding Exposure, very easy to read.

i also bought The Digital Photography Book by Scott Kelby, really great book for beginners, ive also read a photoshop book he wrote, i like his style, it's light hearted and fun which helps . i have Vol.1, and intend on checking out the others in the series, there is at least 4 volumes.
