Iphone tariffs

Why are the Iphone tariffs for 02 and orange rubbish on the number of text messages you get?

I currently get 1000 txt, 600 mins and unlimited data for £23.97 on 02 (£35 a month contract minus my discount)

The same contract with the iphone i will only get 500 txts which i use more than that per month :(
 
A tax that will more then likely put me off getting one and even maybe move providers :) I hope there will be better deals in May when my contract is up for renewal.

Whats stopping me getting a different phone and selling it to buy an iphone and keeping my existing contract?
 
could buy the iphone and put simcard in it ?

i got my o2 one on payasugo now i topup £10/m and get unlimited text/internet & added a bolt on that gives me my calls which comes out of the £10. bargain :)

Nothing. This is what I did!
I get 600min / unlimited texts / 580Mb internet for £18p/m on my Orange contract. Can bump it up to unlimited internet (which is 750Mb on Orange) but i have never used more than 400Mb so no need.

Yes you can get it unlocked by O2 and use it on any network
