GT5 demo December 17 !!!!!

The graphics on this demo may be a somewhat dodgy, but I do like PD's trademark super-slick UIs and 2D work in general. They always deliver that.

P Digitial have not come out and said here you go folks this is our latest build of GT5, have they?

james.miller said:
i think people expected a one track demo with improved handling and graphics over gt5p, and id think that's a fair expectation really.

perhaps this is still laregly using the gt5p build. perhaps.

I dont watch the crowd when Im racing, normally I concentrate on the track and racing line or other cars around me. How it could be called one of the biggest spoiling factors of the game, mmmm yes its something many would wish gets improved but hardly something that effects the gameplay.
well neither do I, much. but id rather no crowd than something like that. It's hardly nitpicking if it's that poor.

Do you enjoy Dirt 2 more because its got very good animated crowds?

I think you already know the answer to that one :p

If anything is a spoiling factor it is the jagged shadows particulary in the cockpit Ive always stated that. Other games also have similar jaggies mr miller however they dont do 16 cars with so many polys in this resolution at 60 frames do they.

Maybe youd be happier with nice crowds and 30fps or just 8 cars?

8 cars is fine by me tbh. most of the time i'm only interested in the top 3 anyway lol

Yeah its one car on a track, not that exciting but its about testing the physics of this car.

I thought it was a competition, i wasnt aware they put it out there to showcase the physics?

This thread has gotten just horrible :o

I'll wait until the proper GT5 thread appears next year and hopefully it does not become infested with pathetic GT vs FM fanboyism :)

Enjoy!

I don't see any fanboyism : \

I do see critisism from GT and Forza players?

Which considering Forza and GT are rival games, and GT5 is yet to be released... Surely that's understandable. They're always going to be compared to one another

Not like you to try and stir things now is it, being petty again are we?
Hence my tounge in cheek reply.

Mr Millar indeed it is a competition, but hasnt it been also mentioned that the physics in this are the first taste of what GT5 will offer. The focus on the community is not so much in the competition but in what has changed or improved in the handling.

Also why do you think thier is tuned and standard versions of the car if not to help illustrate the differences in the handling and physics?

Have you anything positive to add or just want to mention negative things?

Ive only played it for 30 mins but some people are commenting the audio is improved, the car shakes more and movement in the cockpit view particulary under hard braking and physics are indeed more tuned.

Are these positives and part of improving the driving experience?
Yet for you its more important to talk about crowds and look for flaws we know were already their and considering this is the same build to what GT5P was. Now apart from additional physics which are NOT mentioned as FINAL but only a taste of what GT5 will offer that is what surely discussions on this would be better focusing on.

i'm not being petty. It seems you have no issue with complaining but if somebody doesnt agree with you OH NO, big mistake... you hate it when somebody doesnt agree with you, don't you? you absolutely hate it. And stirring? what's up, you dont like me pointing out your past posts on the subject? you can be an utter hypocrite at times Mr Latte, god only know how you can't see that.

this is a discussion thread, not a praise queue.

the crowds are terrible, the physics are...boring - they just dont feel right even if they are different. The shadows are still awful. yes it does make sense if the grpahics side of things is still based around gt5p, but that doesnt make it acceptable. as we get closer to launch, it should have been sorted and another release, in a different guise with the same fall-backs does not look promising. GT5 has been in development for a SERIOUSLY long time now. You would think, considering even prologue was released TWO YEARS AGO, that the engine would be sorted and planted and that they would be using the time to finish added cars and tracks, polishing a few details here and there but that clearly cant be the case if they are still re-writing the code for the sound and physics engines.

Im sorry if there's no praise there - does that upset you? perhaps you shouldnt take gaming so seriously and critisism so personally ;)

I'm off to wrap some presents :)

Doesnt upset me no but im pointing out you seem to have little to praise this for. I dont really value such an opinion that seems to of quickly come to a conclusion on the handling and is more interested in looking for faults.

I tried to mention every game has issues let downs and flawed areas.
Flaws I mentioned regards the current leaderboards and singleplayer issues of FM3 are genuine gameplay ommissions or weakness's. I find if those areas were concentrated on then FM3 could offer much more varied gameplay and more fun particulary from the SP quick play side of things. The leaderboards are shocklingly limited which I hinted even this "demo" does a better job of.

All that to counter your negativity ole scrudge.

Now those factors are aa bit different than animated crowds that YOU make out to be such a spoiling factor.

If you dont like that handling fine, but I dont see it as flawed, the issue is most dont try to get used to it and give up. Also if your a pad player which you dont mention if you are or not then as I said you wont get the best from the game neither.

Just throwing this into the mix with regards people saying the physics 'don't feel right'.

Perhaps they are very close to being right, and all previous attempts were wrong?

Having not driven a 350Z, I can't say.

+1 for the Wheelstandpro...it works great with my DFGT and easy to fold away before the kids are let lose in the front room in the mornings :)

I really enjoyed this demo I think the physics are much much better than GT5P which feels flat and all understeer even in a Ford GT. It takes a lot of effort keeping the 370Z pointing in the right direction but its great fun.

Is the wheelstandpro worth the money ?? Im still deciding weather I should get the playseat.

The physics feel pretty good to me and the cars look superb externally.

The only niggles I have with the game are the rubbish engine sounds which are supposedly recorded from the real cars unyet sound nothing like them. They need to be more meaty sounding. I gave a 370 a tickle at a dealers and it sounded lovely. Very rorty exhaust note. I havn't heard one car while playing GT5 prologue or any of the GT games that sounds like it should.

on this academy demo the interior textures look rubbish too and I'm sure they could have got the clock in the triple gauge pod to show the real time and not "5:32" or whatever it is.

Still no tyre skidmarks either and the smoke doesnt look that realistic

Just me nit picking anyway. I know I will still buy the game because I'm a car nut :)

For me yes it was the only way I could justify buying a wheel as it needed to be quick to setup and put away. Its well made and the guys were quick to deleiver and respond to my emails.

Is it better than a playseat imho yes....better then a racing seat/cockpit then ofc no :)

Just throwing this into the mix with regards people saying the physics 'don't feel right'.
Whenever I see someone saying 'the physics are crap' I read that as 'the cars handle like crap as I am used to arcade racers'

I also found the cars difficult to control but it's just the fact you get punished for accelerating too hard and steering too hard, you need to be smooth, like you need to do in a real 370Z as well.

having driven quick ish cars with decent power, i can attest that the 370z doesnt drive like it *should* despite never having driven a 370z...

its not rough enough when it should be, yet loses traction when really it shouldnt...

its just a gut feeling,

Mr Latte in defensive GT5 posts shocker.

Why should I need a stupidly expensive setup to get the most out of GT5?

You don't though after playing with my pad (due to being too lazy to dig wheel out) and then eventually getting wheel out, i can safely say the £60 Driving force pro does add to the enjoyment immensely.
