100fps in crysis? Bleh

He do have money to waste though...

Well actually these 9.12 are horrible with AA applied in Crysis/WH.Waiting on fermi.
Heres a quick list of cards I bought just to play Crysis.
7900GTX 3 got ripped off for 555 bucks on ebay SLI 2,countless RMA'S
8800GT 3 of them one died SLI
280 2 of them-do not remember them at all SLi
9800GTX+ 7 put in a few coms,most favorite Video card for Crysis,TRISli
275GTX 3 of them ,hated them could not do more then 4x at 1920x1080 had two hrs testing sold for a loss big time.TRISLI
285GTX 3 good cards TRiSLi
4890 3 good cards TRIfIRE AA sucks in crysis
5970 2 only have one
5870 2 have none
5850 1 for trifire with 5970
Soon to be 3xfermi and Crysis better work

That's a lot of money, even if he have been getting some back from selling them off...

Have a squint at this, 100fps isn't enough for this guy, and the fastest card on the planet is "ok".

(oh and unsuprisingly, he's waiting for fermi so the 5970 must be some pocket change pos just to tide him over)
He only got 72fps in crysis..;) (crysis is the test below his dirt2 screenshot)

It was crysis warhead that he got 100fps....

ATI are already saying that by the time Fermi arrives they will have another card ready to launch to rain on Fermi's parade, time will tell

I don't know why he says 4890 Tri-Fire has rubbish AA??

ATI cards are the only ones that apply proper MSAA to transparent texture in CryEngine 2.

Not to mension Edge Detect offers AA quality that Nvidia simply can't match

Someone asked him why he didn't go quadfire, apparently he did, he's awaiting delivery of the second 5970 so the 5850 must be just to tide him over...

More money than sense? And all this JUST for crysis, herp derp

This card had two bad things. AA/AF performance hit was bad and was power hungry as hell.

Which is really strange considering the card was the base for all cards up to and including the current 5xxx series!

Well IIRC TSMC screwed up (sound familiar?) the 65nm process so it had to be made on an 80nm process which made it hot and noisy. Also the AA was done on the shaders which caused a big performance hit, though later drivers alleviated that somewhat. It also had a 512-bit memory bus which wasn't needed. This was corrected by the 4xxx series. :)

I get an average of 60fps in the Avalanche benchmark on the same settings, though it's not representative of the actual gameplay experience. The game is still a hog.

As for the rest of the results... they're hugely questionable. All of them use non-standard benchmarks, like Far Cry 2 using the medium ranch instead of small, DiRT2 using London and not Morocco, Call Of Pripyat using HBAO instead of HDAO and 1920x1080 instead of 1920x1200. They're all designed to make the system look much better than it actually is. And the guy said it's on the stock air cooler, so I guarantee that thing is making a huge amount of noise. It's certainly not practical for everyday gaming.

Warhead is too easy tbh :)
