My cat is poorly and I was wondering if you might know what’s wrong? (picys)

Yozz it will be hard to find one open now here where i live. Like i said, the first thing i will do tomorrow is take him to the vets. I just want some info on what it could be thats all.

Any way yes i am looking into Cataracts now and i am reading some interesting facts on it.

JBuk, how many cats have you had?

Apologies, I'm not being judgemental. I'm just concerned for you and your cat and I don't doubt that you will take the very first opportunity to make the visit.

You're not wrong, the Mrs' cat again has cost her over £3K. Admittedly the bulk of that was from when he got hit by a car and they had to operate on him twice. First to reset his back leg into the socket, then when that didn't take they removed the ball on the joint and set the leg back into the socket. Result of which is he now "minces" every now and then. Money well spent IMO.

don't worry :)

i have no pet insurance as i thought it wouldn't be worth it over 1 cat. But i suppose judging by your story its well worth getting some in case something like that happens

My cat had this. The vet gave him some antibiotics and he was fine about a week later.
His inner eyelids were both over his eyes.
He had a scratch on his neck, thats where the infection had got in the vet said.

I had a feeling cats had two sets of eyelids, but I didn't want to wade in and say something stupid.

Could be that then.

no, it's not the inner eyelid (it's called the "haw" btw) in the pics - it seems to be an infection of the eye itself :(

poor little guy - hope the vet gets him up on the mend super-quick!

a note to all cat owners - if your cats eyes are showing the Haw/third eyelid frequently and not just after they've woken up, there's a good chance they're ill. if it persists then take 'em to the vets before more serious symptoms develop. :)

The vet called it the "Third Eyelid" But I'm a bricklayer so just took his word for it and carried on calling it the inner eyelid :)

I think that's its 'third eyelid'. Chances are it's an eye infection - I'm no vet but we've got a few cats and a couple of years back some of ours got a pretty nasty eye infection that started like that. One of ours lost an eye to that same infection so it's best to get it dealt with ASAP if that's the case although most made a full recovery.

Same here, not read thorugh rest of thread yet though.....

Does just look like cataracts to me, the way it looks as if something film-like has developed over the top of the eye there. However, an ex girlfriends cat started out with a similar thing and it ended up dying of cancer so I'm not sure whether the two illnesses were related.

Where do you live?

If you live in a built up area then there will most likely be a 24hour walk in emergency vet nearby, you will have to pay for it and isn't cheap but they will give you answers quickly.

My local vet offers a 24hour emergency telephone line which we have used many times for my dog. For making the call we get billed £10 but it is worth it for times when we think something serious is going on with his health (he is old and suffers from fits).

Get insurance for god sake! - This goes for anyone who owns a pet and cares about them. Unless you have money to blow and don't mind spending potentially thousands of pounds on clearing up just one problem. As time goes on the pet will get older and your be amazed at how often them trips to the vet are becoming.

Insurance costs around £15 a month, which is nothing really. I recommend Tesco pet insurance they have been amazing with my dog and have paid out over £3,000 in medical expenses over the 3 years we have been with them with no questions asked.

Take your cat to the vet tomorrow, and get insurance.

Please tke him/her to the vets asap.

Im the brother of the OP'er, I can confirm the cat is going to the vets tomorrow, hopefully he'll be back in good form ninja chopping curtains and jumping from sofa's soon (Without worrying about blurry eyed vision) :D

Please do, not that I'm a heartless git but I was never fond of cats until I moved into my flat and lived with one for nearly a year. Now fully intend on getting one when I move back out :) - I appreciate how close you can become to one, hope your puddy tat is ok mate :)

The eye is infected as has been said and you will probably be given some antibiotic cream to treat the infected eye,the cloudy covering is just the cats third eyelid.
