775 board for crossfire

I got an IP35Pro on MM recently for £28.00, it's not ideal because one PCIE slot slows down to 8x when in crossfire I believe but any P45/X38 board should do you fine provided it supports crossfire.

You should be able to pickup a used ASUS P5Q-E for about £60.00 sheets, that will give you crossfire at 8x/8x, if you want full 16x/16x crossfire you will need to find a used X38/X48 chipset board . . .

It's 4x on the second slot, so 16x/4x Crossfire . . .
 
think i might sell this system and just update to a i5 system as they give you full 16x on both lanes dont they,thanks for the help as cant find a x48 or x38 anywere cheapish
 
Stick a thread on MM up, plenty of people will have old x38/x48/P45 boards about :)

Big.Wayne i think i got told on here that 8x 8x versus 16x 16x is only about 5% loss in performance wise is that right if so might just ask on the wanted section like happy said go for a x38 or x48 or p45 board
 
Hi sunderland,

the info you seek is out there somewhere, iirc the gains from x16/x16 becomes clearer as the res gets higher and your using a stack of AA . . .

I think there will be better options in the future for a worthwhile motherboard upgrade . . . In your boots I'd sell the second graphics card and make do with a single card running in a nice PCI-E x16 slot, can't see that holding you back in gaming . . .
