rage against the x-factor - Outcome: RATM is the Christmas Number One!

Why?

Borich

People are buying multiple RATM so if they like Joe's song, fair play to them. Still, a bit odd to post it in a thread campaigning for RATM...

Bought rage's online from 4 different places

gonna see if i can get it from a store on monday too when i go shopping
It won't count if you buy it on Monday for the charts, but the album is well regarded so you may well enjoy it (personally I don't care too much for it).

It really ****es me off that I see such talented, dedicated musicians, singers and songwriters playing the pub circuit year after year and X-Factor catapults karaoke acts to megastardom in the space of a few weeks.

On the plus side, a lot of them seem to come back down to earth pretty sharpish afterwards. The only one I'm aware of having any notable success after the show and the inevitable album is Leona Lewis, thanks to her masterful cover of Snow Patrol's Run.

Why? Deadline is tonight. In about 40 mins we can all forget about them as if they never existed, just like a few weeks ago.

Your loss. I've been listening to them for years, and will continue to do so. Doubtless long after McElderry has disappeared back to Burger King or wherever.

Well Leona actually has a voice worth paying to hear, which is very unusual for an x-factor winner.

Don't know, but there is a technical level where I'm happy pay to see people do covers..

Agreed - she is technically an excellent singer. I heard her live session on BBC R2 the other week, and it was astounding. Emotive, perfect intonation.... I'd like to think she would have "made it" without the help of the X-Factor.

Still, I'd rather watch an excellent band play their own songs.

Has she released any of her own songs yet?

Cover's aren't always a bad you know. For example:

Jeff Buckley - Hallelujah
Sinead O'Connor - Nothing Compares 2 U
Scissor Sisters - Comfortably Numb
Limp Bizkit - Faith

The last one is actually simultaneously the best and worst song of all time.
